Uhm, clarify how you were discussing an aspect of the show? You were trashing a country band you don't like. What's that have to do with anything?

i said that the members of bon jovi looked miserable. jon's trademark fake smile was no where to be seen. during the guitar solo, that guy who pretends to play mandolin went over to richie and starts headbanging, and richie just turns away from him.

Are you even listening to yourself? Negativity is fine as long as there's a grain of truth with it. The guy "pretending" to play mandolin. What show are YOU watching. I'm not trying to go all Derek Bliss on the board but it feels like you guys are seeing a band I'm not.

Whatever, we agree to disagree I guess.

No one has forced Bon Jovi to be on this show. No one forced them to do the show with Sugarland. They've been offered the show before (with Tim McGraw) and turned it down.

Yes, it helps that they're on the same parent label and there was no inter-label red tape to work out with the duet with Jennifer. But it wasn't a forced decision. They wanted to market to the country audience and this is the way to do it. And just like no one forced the band to do it, no one is forcing the fans to watch it.

i can assure you that out of the following 2 scenarios, scenario B is a lot closer to the truth than scenario A

scenario A
jon: hey richie, you know what i want to do?
richie: whats that jon
jon: i want to do a cmt crossroads with sugarland
richie: great idea jon! i love them!

scenario B
record company exec: we need to get you some publicity for the new cd.
jon: you want us to do the nfl kickoff again?
exec: um no, we want you to do a cmt crossroads with sugarland
jon: where the **** is sugar land? are we doing a disney special?
exec: they are a country band thats on our label that we can get to do it for free
jon: if we're going country at least get some credible country artist like lucinda williams or ryan adams
exec: sorry, thats what you've got. be there to shoot the show and look happy.

Thank you Becky. Always bringing reasonability to the boards.

and wolfgang, lay off the crack pipe. They're 5 grown men. If they don't want to do it, they won't do it. You probably shoudn't speak for them and their thoughts. Yeesh. Whaaaatever.

I'm trying to see where you get the miserable from?? I'm watching the video again, Jon looks serious but he often does and Richie looks just like he always does when he's playing. I don't see misery, but it's possible that you and I have a different idea of what misery looks like.
I don't think there is alot these days that Jon and Richie agree to that they don't want to do. As I undersatnd it Jon was/is very complimentary of Ms. Nettles singing voice and if you ever listened to one or two songs of Sugarlands the guy playing the mandalin really can play it.
Why don't you just admit that you are one that doesn't like country, and doesn't like the idea of BJ stepping out of the box.
I really don't get that part. It's like you think they are ruined forever because they do one "special" with a country band. they went to Nashville and played with Willie and still managed to write a couple of rock records since. If you don't like this kind of crossover then don't watch it, no one is holding a gun to your head.... are they???
