I'm not trying to compare Jon to anyone else, but when I see a guy like Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee, or Bret Michaels live on stage, those are guys that are passionate and love their music and enjoy playing it. In interviews like this, it seems Jon has no regard for his adoring fans or the impact he's had on their lives. It's almost disrespectful.

I don't think he's disinterested in the bands music at all. I just think he feels that in these kinds of interviews that are about him, who he is as a person, that are about his life, that the music is only a part of all that. I believe he said in this interview, during the I tunes segment, that it annoys him that after he has spent 6,8,10 months in the studio working to make every background vocal nuanced, every part as perfect as he can, that someones way of hearing it is 10 cent earbuds. Doesn't sound like a man who isn't into his music.
I think he pushes the charity work thing these days, because he feels that the more attention that is on these projects, the more light that is spread on these issues, the more people that get engaged in them and involved, the more that can be accomplished and done to solve these problems. I aslo think he thinks that the "fame" has to be good for something, so it might as well be used for this.
