Like I said, it's great what he does for charities. However, at the end of the day, nobody cares. If he doesn't want to answer the same questions about his music, then he should stop doing interviews.
It's kind of a double edged sword though isn't it, I mean in order to raise awareness for these issues someone has to stand up and say something and who better than the world wide Rock superstar?? I get where you are coming from about "nobody cares", just shut up and sing, there are people for whom that is true, but I have to say I have had more people come up to me and say something about having seen Jon on this or that, asking about the Soul Kitchen thing, and his other charity stuffmore in the last five years than I have about the music. I'm not saying that's a good thing just that it's the reality.
As for him being full of it about the accolades, I don't think he minds at all if his foundation is recognized, or a project he funded is recognized, but I don't think he gives a f***!!! about accolades for himself.

People on here really need to chill and stop being so damn paranoid that our "icon" is ****ing us off all in the name of the dollar. Yes we know he runs Bon a jovi as a business - we've all known this for years. It doesn't bother us because we still go and see the best band in the world. So all you moaners - get with the bigger picture here or just shut up and stop moaning. Like a broken record
Shove your comments. I'll say, as well as anyone else will, whatever the hell I damn well want to. Who do you think you are?

I didn't say crap about what he does for the almighty dollar. What I said was, I'm tired (as are many of us) listening to his almost "I don't give a shit" attitude about his music. He's a musician. What the hell does he think people want to interview him for?

25 years ago all he did was bitch about how in interviews all anyone wanted to talk about was his hair. He wanted so desperately to talk about his music. Now, he could care less.

Don't talk to me about what kind of fan I am son. I've forgotten more about this band than you will ever know.

And Dan as such a longtime fan you'll know just as well as I do - WHATEVER Jon says in an interview isn't necessarily what he feels. He changes his tone to suit whatever mood he's in at the time. One day he might not be feeling the music and wants to be mother Teresa. The next he's full on rock star and wanting to sell out the desert twice

That's Jon.

I really didn't get an "I don't give a shit about the music" attitude from Jon at all. He clearly said that writing is still the best part of the creative process for him. He said he went to efforts to get a background vocal perfect even if it's just going to be listened to on 10 cent earbuds. He said he was excited and pleased about the new album he's working on. He still would fight for the idea of a whole artistic work of an album compared to just writing singles. He still cares about the music, but he's also got his priorities straight. Which is more important... recording a song or providing a home for someone who wouldn't otherwise have one. He's grown up is all that's changed.

And yet he says "finally something interesting..." (which, in itself, is a rather rude statement and nothing I'd like to encounter in my profession as a journalist) when the reporter mentions the charity stuff. Yes, he does formulate those things about the writing process being the big reward and what not, but my main problem is his attitude. Most of the time he's just genuinely uninterested. "This is just my day job. I happen to sell out arenas all over the world. Anyone could do it." If that's the case, then I agree with Dan. Stop doing interviews.

I showed this interview to a couple of friends who are kind of indifferent to the band's music, and they thought he came off as an asshole. I really can't blame them.

That said, it is true that Jon's mood determines his point of view and attitude. The last big interview he did, the one at his house, showed a phenomenal side of him.

What I really liked about this interview was Jon's attitude.
As mentioned before he came across as balanced and humbled. And I TOTALLY think he loves music and creating it (still) But also he is able to focus on other things as well. Like he once said "Map out your future but do it in pencil". And him saying "it's only my day job" may refer to him not having a "rockstar" personality. He also said that he is in it for the music and not for the cliches.

Jon distrusts a lot of the media as he knows how they can twist words. So in a lot of interviews he's very forthright and serious.

An English tabloid came out in the 90's with a headline saying that Jon had cheated on his wife, he's never given a decent interview over here since and regularly says how he has no time for them.

He holds grudges.

Do you really think this is the reason? I think he is just generally bored and annoyed by those stupid and repetitive questions over and over again (well I would be). When he did an interview in Germany the first question was on how he keeps looking so young...I mean???
He was very pissed after that interview.

I think his disdain for the media began when the British tabloids were writing shit about him. I'm sure he's grown bored of stupid question but his attitude from the get go of most interviews is guarded and calculated. He talks like a politician most of the time.

In big interviews you'll see a far more relaxed Jon because he knows he won't get shafted.
