Default Confused over 'Riff Rock'?!

I know Jon started spouting off ages ago about his 'riff rock record' because 'they' wouldn't let him back in Nashville. However, can someone give me a concise definition of 'riff rock'? What I currently understand Riff Rock to be is a song composed mostly (or completely) of one distinct, repetitive riff, e.g. the Rolling Stones' "I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)". That's the definition I found here:
http://blogs.news-journalonline.com/...nternet-f.html

Anyone else got a decent definition or can confirm this one as right? Also, would you class WWBTF as Riff rock?

Yes I was thinking AC/DC also. But then Jovi sounding like AC/DC is just silly. So when Jon said all this stuff I always had my doubts and I think he HAS confused a lot of people over this. Really he should of said we are doing a typical Jovi record. Which I don't think is a bad thing. It's pop rock at it's best for me...

Erm, it's not just AC/DC who have riffs .... loads of bands do, and hell, loads of Bon Jovi songs could be described as riff rock ... Lay Your Hands On Me, Hey God, Last Man Standing, Undivided, In & Out Of Love, You Give Love A Bad Name ... the list goes on and on.

Maybe a few songs of the record will be riff based upbeat rock songs but to be honest I think Jon jumped the gun a bit when describing the album like that, he could have even beeen talking about songs which did not make the album and may not have even been officially demoed (this WAS back in february right?)

I thought Obie had used this description also for the record.... someone should ask obie/bj if they know what riff rock is...

more likely the fans ran with what Jon said and Obie just agreed, but Obie gets paid to think everything rocks......

two "recent" BJ riff rock songs that describes it best for me are: Have A Nice Day, Last Man Standing
Straight distorted chords.
AC/DC are one of the pioneers

Homebound train and the intro of wanted are probably the best examples of jovi riffs.
