Last Man Standing and Undivded have with no doubt the coolest riffs from the post-2000 ! Just imagine a album full of songs as those two !

For me a rock/riff album is something like SWW or NJ. I mean almost every song on SWW has some kind of riff. Die 4 You, Prayer, Bad Name, Let It Rock, Wild In The Streets, Raise Your Hands. But Bon Jovi will never do those kind of songs again. Prepare for that.

It's just sad
I mean they don't need to do 80s style songs. But some songs with great licks and riffs wouldn't hurt anybody

True. However, it depends how you want to define riff rock. To me Jovi songs have always been melodic rock. I say that because they rely on Dave's big filler keys and melodies - especially on all of the old stuff. Yes, Sambora also plays big powerfull riffs so I can see your point. So I guess there are different degrees of riff rock?

Well, I'm not sure "riff rock" is actually a recognised genre anyway, so you could probably define it how you want ... either a song that is mainly built around a guitar riff, or just a song that features riffing. But I still contend that by either definition, songs like Hey God, Undivided, Last Man Standing, We Got It Going On etc. are pretty much riff rock songs

Even if Jon was confused over the definition of Riff rock, I remember Obie proclaiming the new album rocks really loud etc. Still, didn't he say that about HAND? I'm bracing myself for pop-rock now.

Well... maybe I'm being unfair in thinking Obie would have less idea than Jon when it comes to "riff rock". Plus you can make anything really loud by compressing the dynamic range, can you not?

Nevertheless, I'm still optimistic that I'll at least like this album, even if it's not the masterpiece I'm holding out for.
