Exactly.

No, I wasn't implying that the co-writers made them "rock", but that the songs probably weren't all that convincing before they entered the picture.

I'm inclined to think that the guy who started the thread was referring to You Give Love A Bad Name rather than Shot Through The Heart, because if he was referring to STTH it is the weirdest song choice on which to base his argument. Anyone with me?

So, could they write another Bad Name now should be the question. And it is a stupid one. Many would say they did, with IML. But it's like asking any band whether they could replicate one of their biggest ever hits. If BJ had brought out another Bad Name in 2000, with similar lyrics, melody etc it would have sunk. It was a pure 80's song, nothing more, nothing less. Artists are not in the business of recreating old work which is irrelevant to a modern audience. IML kept BJ relevant, however much some of us don't like the direction they took with it and since then. Without it i wonder whether we would have had the stadium tours, box-sets etc. I look at IML and some of the less inspiring work after Crush as the trade-off for continuing tours and even some decent post-2000 songs.

Nope, I meant STTH. Could've been Roulette... Come Back...

I consider Last Man Standing to be a kick ass rock song. They're definately capable of recording the like of You Give Love A Bad Name but in all honesty, that type of song does not really have a place in today's music business, hence the maturing phase during the These Days era.
