Yeah, cos making wishes to a non existent God is always the answer.

The best she can hope for in my opinion is getting everything back on her insurance. If VIP isn't sold out she could get a friend to wire money to somewhere like Western Union and buy a new ticket- but even without ID she wouldn't get it.

Maybe go to an Internet cafe, print off an email confirmation, then goto the police & get a crime number & then take both to the ticket office/customer services and explain & beg...

Either way it's terrible and I can't begin to thnk of how she's feeling

For future reference: police and local embassy. Not necessarily in that order. The embassy can issue new papers and/or effectively a temporary passport if you're not hanging around (they can issue full passports but it'd take a lot of time) and you'll need a police report for the insurance.

All festivals have a list of ticket holders these days so if you'd done all that and presented the police report and temp papers you could probably have whimpered your way into getting a replacement at the ticket office if you'd gone a little while before you'd otherwise have been able to get in.

Was she mugged or robbed? Those are the only two excuses I can think of for allowing something this ridiculous to happen that deserve any sympathy. Those are all things to keep on you at all times. Not checked in your bag, Not up in the overhead bin, not in the seat pocket in front of you... not up in the hotel room while you are at the pool or whatever.

It sucks for her, but I'm betting it was easily prevented.
