Hmmm I have never heard this "creepy reprise" but I'm interested now.

Would that be a bad thing? I don't see any reason why someone would be required to buy six versions of the same CD. I checked my collection and I do have the American version (and can't find the Japanese version, but the version of You Are Not Alone that I remember has the creepy repetitive end.) Still, ten years ago when the CD was new, I would have been more inclined to pull an import version because if any of them would have bonus tracks, it would usually be the import. It's no different than opting to listen an import of These Days, Crush, or Bounce. I didn't love the CD anyway, so it's not as if I listened to ANY version of it numerous times.

It's not all that creepy, REALLY. It's just embarrassing. Like, I love that reprise of All That Really Matters, so I kinda turn it up, but I always forget to turn it back down again. So a few seconds later, "YOU'RE NOT ALONE YOU'RE NOT ALONE YOU'RE NOT ALONE YOU'RE NOT ALONE" comes blasting out of the speakers.

Naw, I completely agree with you. It's just that the Japanese and the American versions are pretty different with the mixes whereas all the main tracks on TD, Crush and Bounce are pretty much the same worldwide, ya know?

Haha No worries, was just curious.

Are they really? Well, I can't find my Japanese copy. One day I might spin the US copy to see what the differences are. Some of my CDs still have the plastic on them just because they were bought for the collector's purpose even though I had all the songs.

Hey Becky -- this is one instance where the versions really are quite different. Not the usual identical album with some bonus tracks added for the international market. I generally listen to the U.S. version, but every once in awhile I go for the more work-in-progress sounding Japanese one.

And in spite of the fact that I'm a big Richie fan, I think that whole "you are not alone" thing is VERY creepy! LOL I remember looking at my car stereo like it was possessed the first time I heard it!

Oh it is so completely creepy. I always picture someone snooping in someone's windows and looking at their kids, or the scene in a murder mystery where they find the bodies and some song is left on repeat. Imagine walking into a darkened house, you hear a noise in your bedroom and as you get closer, you begin to hear Richie's 'you're not alone' looping endlessly.

You'd shit yourself.

Be honest.

And even if Richie himself, ladies, was sitting in your room and pledged his undying love for you at that moment, you'd still take the baseball bat that you had grabbed from the closet and beat him to death for what he'd done to your ears.

It's frightening; that's all I'm saying.
