I think 'It's Just Me' is one of the best songs Jon has ever written for example.
I love Queen of New Orleans, DESTINATION ANYWHERE and the acoustic version of August 7, sends shivers down my spine.
I have corrected your song typo

Oli, how can you hate Little City. That song is superb. It has such a moody atmosphere running through it.

DA is a very good record, better than any post-2000 band record. But I really don't see how it's so great.

I absolutely love the title track and Queen Of New Orleans though, and the lyrics are very good throuout.

But has anyone noticed how August 7 has the same chords as Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World?

Yes of course! Who wouldn't notice that. but the song is so profound in it's meaning and what it means to Jon is something noone can understand. When you saw him do it live it tore you apart, the emotion and feeling that went into it would make you weep!!

In fact as Deb has said the whole album is very introspective, as that is what it was initially meant to be called, "Introspeciton"!
I love it for that fact in as much as Jon has opened his heart with this record and laid his soul bare. To see Jon do these songs live was trully magnificient for some of us who were there to see it. Those shows were absolutely mind blowing!

I had completely overlooked DA for many years. When it first came out, I really had no feelings towards it either way - didn't love it, didn't hate it - I guess I was too busy in school to really care.

I can honestly say I never gave DA a chance. Once I really listened to the lyrics, the songs meant A LOT more to me. I guess I can't understand how someone that's given it a chance, that they can't appreciate those songs, at the very least - lyrically. From Learning How to Fall to Janie, both of those songs seem so personal to me, they've given me goosebumps. I regret waiting so long to actually LISTEN to it. Like you Deb, it's probably one of my top CDs of all the Jovi CDs, both band and solo.

Love Dave Stewart as a producer - especially his work with Mick Jagger. Thanks for posting the article!

Very well said. For those that haven't really listened I say give it a spin now and you may think differently.

And Donna, my one regret in life, is that I never saw a DA show. Unfortunately, due to circumstances (I was taking care of my terminally ill father at the time), I just couldn't make it to any shows which would have involved traveling some distance.

DA is a masterpiece. It's such an honest truthful album. Some of Jons best songwriting ever is showcased on that album.

I'm so sorry to hear that was such a tough time for you Deb. Going through taking care of an ill parent is so incredibly difficult, and I'm sure you are a much stronger woman having dealt with something like that.

The year before DA came out, my mother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, so I guess I can relate on some small level. It changed me, and things I once cared about seemed insignificant, which is way I focused so hard on school. I didn't even realize there was a tour for DA at the time. It's also a big regret of mine missing that tour. I guess that's why a part of me can't help but wish the boys would take this upcoming time off to do some solo stuff.

When Jovi play Rockin' In the Free World live, Jon plays the same solo as the one in August 7 4:15 ...oh, and what a coincidence. Today is August 7. May that girl rest in peace, it's such a sad sad story.
