Sure he could, for anyone singing with falsetto voice that's easy. Why do you sound so sure it's a sample? Or rather The sample? If you mean solo then no I haven't heard him sing. In the chorus of Bad Name there's no question it's Hugh on the falsetto part (C C C C....C Bb Bb C C) and Dave the lowest part (Eb Eb Eb Eb.......Eb D D Eb Eb.....that relating to 'Shot through the heart......, and you're too-oo blame').

I'm not a singer but it sounds to me in the pre-chorus, Dave may be pretty much doubling Jon. It's hard to discern though as you said.

I guess it's the sample. I heard a song Hugh was singing and he has the second lowest voice after Tico
My another guess is that Dave is the one to cover up Jon.
Best vocals had Alec an octave higher that anyone else, he probably had very tight trousers. I can't believe Jon let him sing..

Alecs the one that would always sing in falsetto, anyone could do that.
Beyond that Alecs voice really didn't do much good at all.

That is though, from what I've heard, someone who witnessed the band live when Alec was there, may have a different opinion.

You know... This is not the truth, that Alec always sang with falsetto. I think he did it when he had problems with his voice. There have been some Blood On Blood performances where was a solo and then Jon was singin', then Richie and then Alec. And he had quite good voice.

Hugh and Alec both have/had better voices than they get/got credit for.

I saw Alec sing lead for Blood on Blood in July of 89 to the largest crowd the band had played to up to that point and the audience went bat shit crazy when he sang it was magical. He got more applause then Jon or Richie on that tune when they sang lead. I still wish I had a recording of it.

When I taped Richie with permission at his acoustic Allentown, PA show the backing voclas sounded like a choir of angels, in fact I looked around for the female backers and it was just Hugh and Everett.
I later heard him singing in the parking lot of a country club while making a drink at the trunk bar and was amazed by his voice. It's not really fair to judge his vocal ability by his backing vox with Jovi or a horrible recording from a Xmas show.
