Nowhere in my argument I stated that you have to like them or even purchase their newer albums because they're not the same as the older ones (hey it's your money, do whatever you want with it). It's just the reason that they 'sound the same' is ignorant. I've seen similar stupid arguments in DL message boards when they trash BJ and I always argue against that because the arguments there don't make sense either just like yours. Had you said something like "I don't like Aerosmith because they went pop" or "Aerosmith is a sellout because they performed a song penned by Dianne Warren" or "I don't like DL either right now because their lyrics in X are so goddamn cheesey and they're trying too hard to get a hit", then there's no problem at all. These have validity. But saying that these two bands are 'stuck' or 'sound the same in every album' is just as stupid as the arguments over in DL board where they say "BJ is just a band with a pretty face and that's why they're so big now." or "BJ is successful because Jon acts in movies" or "It's My Life is just a remake of Livin on A Prayer" or "BJ is trying to cash in with Bounce because it has 9/11 references". Do you see my point maam or are you still blinded by Jon's armpit hairs? (if you don't like my sarcasm, tough and grow up and don't go cryin to your cats - valid points are valid points and can't be overriden by the cherry on the top)
How is this person a nominee in the 'best debator' category??? GIMME MY KRB!!!!
Of course there are dumber arguments above me that says "So and so sucks because they suck and suck forever" but these statements just don't need counter arguments because by doing that I will lower my IQ to their level
I would like to see Phil's interview if you can show the link me Javier. I haven't read that one yet. And I agree, they're trying TOO HARD to get a hit with X. It's just a bit too soft for me.

What I find so ignorant about your agruments is that you can't make a point without a personal insult that's completely unrelated to anything. If I was obsessed with Jon as you say then I would LOVE both Def Lep and Aerosmith because Jon is friends with both bands and professes to be a big Aerosmith fan. Sorta throws a wrench in your argument, doesn't it? And how did my cats become involved in this? LOL You're attempts at personal insults are ridiculous! Can't you discuss something and stick to the subject? Or do you not have faith enough in your points to allow them to stand on their own?
Now I have other priorities right now so you can take your Def Lep and Aerosmith CDs and enjoy them to your heart's content. My original statement has always been that I GAVE UP ON THEM based on the similarities between the albums I do have. Therefore, I'm not going to waste my time or money attempting to force myself to like them (I only do that for Richie!). I'm not interested enough in either band to search out the differences. I realize critics say the same thing about Bon Jovi. I just happen to agree with the critics where Def Lep and Aerosmith are concerned. There's a whole world of music out there that isn't rock. I'd rather have a variety to choose from than a boring selection of the same thing over and over again. If you don't find it boring, great. I do.

Granted, his approach needn't be insulting. Yomamasofat could talk a different approach. But he has a point regarding you dismissing the albums as sounding alike. On Through The Night, High N Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria, and Slang all have different and evolving sounds just as each of Bon Jovi's albums. It's not even a matter of opinion. It's like saying Black and Red look the same. The issue of someone dismissing them as "all sounding the same" is like someone here saying "oh Bon Jovi's albums all sound the same..just like Slippery When Wet." It's ridiculously ignorant and would cause anyone who actually does know about either band to get into a hissy fit. I could understand if you were refering to ADRENALIZE or Euphoria because both albums recall past sounds and songs.
You don't have to listen to them anymore, but to say Pyromania and Hysteria sound alike when there was a complete uproar about the change in their sound at the time is silly. He makes some good points about the kinds of ignorance regarding Bon Jovi that goes on over at Def Leppard boards. I think what he is trying to get at is he'd like to see less stupidity over here that mirrors what goes on at Def Leppard boards and more educated statements. Be the better group of fans. You don't have to like the band...but get it right (it's not Adrenalized.) Anyway, I'm not being insulting. You're alright in my book. I'm just trying to referee a little. I personally would rather fight fire with water instead of fire when it comes to arguing the two bands against each other.
