August 7, 4:15 is the date and estimated time of Katherine Korzilius's murder. August 7 is her father Paul's birthday too. He was in NJ working that day, planning to fly home for his birthday and the mom and kids had been out shopping for presents. By the time he got home, Katherine was already declared brain dead. The narrative of the song is pretty much exactly what happened and Jon wrote it to get the anger and hurt out of his system and gave it to Paul with no intention of recording it. Paul asked that he put it on DA so that it would bring attention to Katherine's murder, hoping that someone could provide a clue.

If I hadn't grown up forced to listen to Kenny Rogers, I would probably like the song, chorus and all. LOL

Thought so, after reading what it's about, the title is a dead giveaway in my opinion. Definently a powerful song and now that I know what the lyrics mean, I might approach it in a different way and see it in another direction.

Me too!!! When I first bought the album, I only listened to the first few songs. But I listened to the whole thing a couple of times and was hooked. It is one of the albums I never get tired of!
