I only like a few songs off DA. I find it quite boring

I love this record. Very solid. Don't skip any songs on it. I love that he doesn't rely on already tested Bon Jovi sound as he did in Young Guns.

JB needs to do more solo work to grow as an artist. DA proved to me that Bon Jovi confines him as a songwriter and a record-creator.

One of my favourites, never get bored of it. There is so much depth and feeling to this album, just beautiful.
I don't have a complete favourite, it depends on my mood which one I favour.

Destination any = a left turn that really did feel right. I was a bit disappointed when I heard Midnight in Chelsea as I thought "if thats the best song on the album Im not gonna like it" Its a lot more subtle than Blaze but hteres some really good songs on there like Janie, Queen of new orleans, ITs just me, Naked. It doesnt sound like Bon Jovi at all but that was a good thing as it showed jon wasnt a "one trick Pony".

I definately love the album.
I find it much better than the Young Guns album.
I never get tired of it either.

Janie is also the most Bon Jovi-like in sound out of the album. It was the song I liked first while having difficulty with the rest of the songs and now the song I cannot stand while loving the rest of the album.

Keep at it and you may grow to appreciate the album....something will just snap one day. I've told others this before..but it also helps if you like Depeche Mode, which I do. This was just not what I expected from Jon at all and it initially confused me. So it took me a while to "get it" I went from being bored with Midnight In Chelsea and wondering what he was thinking to loving the song and finding it brilliantly written and sung. Every Word Was A Piece Of My Heart is now one of my all time favorite songs and close to my heart, no pun.

I always thought the lyrics of the album were pure art, continuing where These Days left off. This is why Crush was such a shock when it was so much simpler and relatively bland lyrically. I had grown to look forward to great lyrical lines and was truly disappointed. I don't think the creative juices have run dry at all, just the wrong attitude and approach is now being taken towards writing for the band. The glimmer of the artist does continue to rise up out of the work that has been presented since 2000, but overall it's restrained and simplified. You can find this in songs like Captain Crash. I know, lots of groans going up, but the lyrics are well written, just not deep. Compare "you're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud" or "I been knocked down so many times, counted out 6, 7, 8, 9 " to "You and me, we're invincible, together, we can be so tragical, whatever." You also find proof in his ability to write higher caliber lyrics in songs like Another Reason To Believe "Love lives in New York City, he's got a place off of the park. Heard he was standing in the ruins, and in his hand's a broken heart" and cleverness in Right Side Of Wrong.

My point is I look forward to another solo album from Jon as long as he lets it flow. I'd rather have that now than another Bon Jovi album. They will continue to crank out more album like Crush and Bounce unless they just stop and breathe and put their energy elsewhere and rediscover their passion for the band....at least Richie and Jon. They are too busy trying to make Bon Jovi what the industry tells them it is rather than letting Bon Jovi the band continue to reflect where it's members are at artistically.

I bought DA when it first came out. I listened to it once or twice and then didn't listen to it for a few years. Then one day I decided to give it a try again and I just loved it. It's one of my favorites now. I really like Queen of New Orleans, Janie and Every Word Was A Piece of My Heart. I just think the song writing on the album is incredible. It would be nice to see some songwriting like that again.

You are right. That's where the problem lies indeed. That's why their last records seem half-hearted.

I also love this album and it is right up there with my other favoriets KTF and These Days. There's not one song on it that I don't love and every time I listen to it I'm amazed by how great it is. I'm hoping that Jon has a lot of down time filming "One Wild Night" next year and he has his guitar in his trailer.

Bleeding. I love you. Sorry, but you have the best attitude I have ever seen regarding the boys. You're able to make sense and talk the talk without ever bashing them and calling them pop. Very anti-negative. Sorry. you rock.
