I've once read (I think somebody stated it in a metal sludge 20 questions) that Brad Whitford's solos are a lot better. Can any guitar-expert here confirm or deny this? Especially since I think there's only a handful of solos Brad ever played.

I always thought that the only thing Joe Perry was good at was taking his shirt off. I'll admit I don't own any Aerosmith albums (I don't really like them, give me G'N'R any day) but I've heard a number of their songs over the years and I've never heard a decent solo from him. He has come out with the odd good riff but as a lead player he's not fit to tune Richie's guitar in my opinion. As for Bon Jovi sounding like Aerosmith didn't they try to buy Social Disease of Bon Jovi before Slippery was released? That song does sound quite Aerosmithesque, probably the reason I don't like it apart from it sounding very dated these days.

Try "The Other Side". Great one IMO.

They wanted to cover it.

Ok, very nice, but did anyone actually listen to the solo in AMAZING? Just take a little listen and tell me that they are not similar.

Yeah and it's also worth taking into consideration that Desmond Child wrote for both bands. When you think about it he really helped Bon Jovi hit big for the first time and helped Aerosmith become a success again after the years spent stoned, drunk and god knows what else.

I can see where you're coming from. They do sound similar but not enough to say Sambora ripped off Perry.
