I think i'd love to think this way ...but for few years now I read comments about cd sales -about jovi of course- that made me think that then maybe my way of thinking was not the general one...
for me when I want a cd of an artist that i love I buy the cd whatver the season the competition with other ppl or even I admit the price of it .. I JUST BUY IT... but since bounce basically I heard my internet jovi friends talk about things i would have never think about ... like the period of the year .. ppl mentiuonning oh that's not good news because summer is not a good period for a cd .. I was like

what ?! .... or oh that's great news the cd will sell good because ppl will buy it for xmas I thought again

what ?! .... or friends totally excited before the box set was out and checking the newsppaper to know where to buy the cd at the best price and I thought again

what ?! .....
I must have lived either under a rock or in a bubble to never have been bothered by anything like that ... so I made this thread ...

wanting to know what kind of consummer you are or maybe in what way you consider music ...for me music is part of the artistic culture so basically even if we have to buy for it it's not a product ( my idealistic vision is that there is no search of cheapest stuff no competition or no comparison no sales nothing like that because for me it's not a buying washing powder ).. so like you said Rob or Kathleen nothing really count neither about the season nor the competition or anything but that's just me or few ppl and I think it's interesting to know other ppl way of thinking ...
All the replies have extremely valid points .. and for example the competition point does seems to count a lot for Jovi ... ..maybe not from a fan point of view (like I won't buy jovi first if U2 is out at the same time ) but more from the Jovi side ... they are maybe avoiding the competition with other artists more than targetting the greeting season to sell better ...
