I've been a die hard fan of this band for nine years now, and have listened to their albums (not to mention everything else they've released) thousands of times. While I wish I could have been around for those earlier times, I also feel like I'm fully capable of judging the previous albums.

I think someone who comes in later has as better chance of having an objective and appreciative viewpoint of their body of work as opposed to someone who it blinded by their own nostalgic leanings and prejudice towards anything after a certain period.

Are you telling me that most diehards who have followed the band since SWW views are based on nostalga and not song quality because thats what im juding on. Its what every band should be judged on.

IMO theres only a handful of songs wrote after TD that are anywhere near the quality of the first 6 albums.

There's plenty of songs on the first six albums that are hardly lyrical masterpieces to be fair ;d

That is for sure but yet I still enjoy them. And to answer the question, I'm not bored with the band, I love them but I also do not listen to BJ a lot as far as the studio releases, not complete cds anyway (damn Ipod, lol). With the live shows it's more for me then just seeing the band as I have sooooo many close friends that on this tour that work the shows. I go to see my friends as much, if not more, than to see the band. So, it's different for me.

To an extent. Not so much on the studio albums, but in the live setting. The shows are just too predictable and bland. Part of it is my own fault for reading setlists on the net, but part of it is just Jon's unwillingness to mix things up. Yet, there are 2 shows in my area in March, and I'll go to both. I've seen the band about 50 times now, and I still get pumped before the shows, but I find myself becoming more disenchanted with the shows as they go on.

Hey Deb...do you ever get tired of trying to defend yourself with other fans. That's like trying to explain why an apple and not an orange. I'm done with that.
They rocked on Letterman!!!! I just love those web video links!
Going to the United Center?? LOL! I may have to pass, since we are on a limited budget. Maybe if they have some cheap tickets again....however.

I always, always enjoy the Chicago shows Kathleen. I wish it wasn't during the week, otherwise, I'd be there for sure!!

Yes, your views are tainted. The songs over the catalog are different, but overall demonstrate experimentation and a willingness to try new things, whether you like it or not. It's too easy to call something crap just because it doesn't fit the mold you think it should. Brian has a better chance of being objective and more open.

I know I do it a lot, but I'll point to KISS as a perfect example. Do you know how many of their diehards run around saying the first six albums are the holy grail and everything since is crap on the claim of quality? There are plenty of us who became diehards in the 80s and 90's who have more of the view that Brian does with Bon Jovi. I know for a fact that some of the 70's albums are ridiculously overrated by the diehards all because of their nostalgic attachment to it.

I could easily and I have sided with you... but time has softened me a bit and I've grown to have a greater appreciation for the last decade where I initially wasn't in love with any of the albums except for the boxset and The Circle.

As for me being bored... not really. I don't have the band on heavy rotation all the time and the shows take on a whole other experience. I have been bored with them as some of you might remember. Taking a break goes a long way, I've said repeatedly.

I'm looking at seeing 9 shows this year on two difference continents, so I'd say I've been re-energized.
