Hmm true, I’ve just read that IEM’s are actually way safer for your hearing.
But then again, that’s a big change for Jon, wondering why 🤷🏻*♂️

Yeah obviously either source lets you have different levels of whatever sounds you want to focus on (more drums, less drums etc) so you'd think IEMs would be the prime choice IF this was a hearing issue so I really don't think that's what it is.

Howdy, all! Hope everybody's doing okay!

Someone (I think maybe Nige) suggested the possibility a few years back that Jon may have something like Meniere's disease. I don't know much about it; but I seem to recall that it affects the inner ear, and the reason it came up, at the time, was bc it was around the time when Jon was glued to the mic stand and we thought maybe it was because his balance was off.

I was just looking at some of the symptoms and among them are a ringing in the ears, loss of hearing, muffled hearing, tinnitus or a roaring in the ears. I wonder if that might compromise the effectiveness of an IEM, possibly more than the sound coming from the outside like monitors.

It's definitely more than just voice issues. I wonder if something like Meniere's might also affect his timing and pitch issues; which have been dreadful from the little I've seen, and actually concern me more than his voice. I feel really bad for him and the band.

Anyway, I'm obviously shooting in the dark; but it's a possible explanation.

Richie is smashed or high and Jon is dying. . I will apply Occams razor considering the only information we have as a fact is that Jon's voice is worse than it used to be.

I don't think it's health related pre tour. I can't imagine he'd have bothered going on tour if he knew it would be this bad. My guess is he knew it wouldn't be good, but like the last tour, it would only be noticeable by the die hards. Unfortunately, he's having more issues than last tour. Probably Covid related. I have that shit now. Messes you all up (and I'm vaccinated).

I am thinking that this is Covid related.

How would Covid affect pitch control and being off rhythm?

He was off pitch and rhythm from the summer of 2013 onwards...

There is more behind Jon's worsening vocal state, whether it was a botched medical procedure or something entirely different we'll never know because Jon is being tight lipped about the whole situation with his voice.

Until we get some degree of explaination from the man himself it's business as usual (to him at least).

Which I guess I get. He's not going to go on tour saying "my voice is totally screwed, come see us"

I really think that with these being the only dates of 2022, and they've made that clear, and no shows on the horizon, something will be said.
