My voice is shot, I'm going grey
These muscles all ache
Don't cry for me, I'm the life of the party
I'm smiling most of the time
I may be gritting my teeth, can't get back where we started
These days I'm doing just fine

If - hypothetically - he’s still dealing with breathing issues from having had COVID that would most likely affect his breath control which in turn can affect pitch control and being off rhythm.

If you can’t keep the air flow steady and consistent or you just don’t have enough air to get through a phrase properly, your pitch can slip and go all over the place. And if you have to take more breaths (or deeper breaths) in between phrases, you might miss your cue and get off rhythm.

That being said, since he already had those issues before COVID was even a thing, it could be a factor that’s making things worse, but it can’t be the sole reason.

His breathing is all over the place this tour. You see him even stop singing suddenly to breathe, finish phrases while inhaling etc... It makes it all sound like he might pass out, and someone as fit as him normally wouldn't go out of breath so easily, so maybe covid is not the reason but there are some breathing issues for sure....

I really think that with these being the only dates of 2022, and they've made that clear, and no shows on the horizon, something will be said.
I certainly hope something will be said, but with Jon it's hard to tell. Actually Jon might have been able to get away with an appeal to fans to come help him sing. Seriously even after this mess there are people who still want to see him!

The interesting aspect will be that IF they ever go on tour again, he'll certainly have to face some questions about his vocal state unless they ditch all promo and press.
Going by how many reviewers had picked up on it and how much it was present on YT and social media, I'd be surprised if he wasn't asked. The ticket price situation was much less prominent in 2009 and they still brought it up in a UK TV show at the time.

Chances are that entire topic will get blacklisted - since they’re already keeping people from writing reviews of the shows now, they’ll probably also make sure nobody brings up the elephant in the room during interviews.

Exactly. Waaay before Covid was even a thing. I agree with what others have said, in that Covid might exacerbate whatever's going on; but I don't see how it could be the main problem.

Yup. He wasn't great long before the pandemic. It's possibly this made his breathing issues worse but anyone who thinks Covid is why he stinks now is off base.

Considering that Jon’s voice is pretty much taboo subject when it comes to interviews, I wonder how does that work within the circle. For instance: they lowered the songs another half step down. Did Jon came up and said “guys I can’t sing this anymore, let’s lower it” or was is the other way around ?

It’s no coincidence that since 2015/2016 David and the rest of the guys are much higher in the mix. So at some point they must have had the talk: “hey, my voice is gone, I need you guys to cover for me”. Or was it the other way ?

I’m really curious about this. I guess we’ll never know.
