Hehe, same here! My sisters are tired cause they like pop( ) and I listen ti BJ VERY often
But no one makes fun of me. If someone asks what music I like and I answer: Bon Jovi, they just say: "ah, really?"

Well most people don't give me a hard time about it, mostly when musucians ask and I tell them Bon Jovi are my favorite band I ussually hear a comment positive about Richie or Tico. When the rare occasion happens that somebody has the balls to laugh at me for liking Bon Jovi i ask them "well who do you like??" and the answer is ussually hip hop or Slipknot, Thety always tell me to listen to slipknot but I always say "No thanx I like good music". So i ussually just try to be a smart ass about it.

I used to be made fun of, laughed at, questioned about liking Bon Jovi. Then, I just basically told them to get a life. Or I got into a five hour argument why I like them.

Nowadays, the people I'm friends, friendly or acquainted with know the deal - they leave me in peace, and let me have my fun. Occasionally I run into people who think I'm nuts for having gone on the tour etc... I just tell them that there's probably something in their life that is similar.

For instance, it took my dad a good 6 to 7 years to realise that BJ is in my life for good. In 2000, when I was living in Cyprus and couldn't book the tickets for the tour myself, I asked him to book two tickets, for the two Finnish concerts. We had a fight (probably the only one we've ever had), and he kept asking why I want to see the same show twice. He's into fishing, and goes to Russia at least twice a year with his friends, a bunch of them, for a week to fish. Plus all the fishing he does in Finland. I explained to him and his best friend, one of the bunch, that it's not so different... When they gather up, plan the trip, shop, pack... It's like me going to see a show. When they get all excited about new gear etc, it's like me getting excited over an album. I was slightly drunk at the time, and came up with a lot of parallels. That really hit it home, and since then he's understood it, and is even proud of it. And he didn't even whince when I asked him to borrow his credit card so I can book 10 or so tickets to see Bon Jovi

The moral of the story - everyone has their 'Bon Jovi' and rational explanation and parallel-making will go a lot further than getting embarrassed, defensive or aggressive

I have been put down, and laughed at, even lately in the army but I don´t care anymore. I either argue about it for an hour and nothing comes of it, or then I just tell them what I think of the music they listen (which is rap ´cause rockers understand At least in my case ) and the discussion usually ends there.

My mates used to make fun of it something like 5 years ago but they´ve realised long time ago that no matter how hard they try to make fun of it, I will like their music nevertheless.

One reason why some people make fun is the ballads...they don´t know any other bon jovi song so they judge the band by their ballads. Then I have to educate them...I always do. Same thing with JBJ=BJ...educate, educate. It irritates me like hell when someone says bj only does ballads or BJ is Jon´s band.

Many things must have happened but this is what comes to my mind right now.

Years ago, a few classmates always laughed at me and just could not understand how I could listen to Bon Jovi. With times they got some taste, are sort of fans now and last year we were at a gig together...
A lot of other friends don't like Bon Jovi but learned to respect that I do.

Other side is, every now and then there are those nice moments when a totally unknown girl does thumbs up when seeing me in my Golf Bon Jovi with a big silver *BOUNCE* lettering on its rear window - as happened a few weeks ago in Chemnitz. Are you on this board?

Most of the times I ask people what they listen to and then I tell them they suck...
if they laugh about me I tell them they suck anyway(if they don't listen to bands that are legends)

People who laugh about you do not suck.

I don't go around telling people I like Bon Jovi, but my friends know, of course. None of them really get it and my brother in law will make fun of me until eternity for liking Bon Jovi. Needless to say, what puts me off most is the usual reaction from guys that say "so you like his ass in tight jeans". Urgh!

are you sure it is because of the sticker???

Would anyone care to clue me in what on earth a Golf Bon Jovi is?

Most of my mates are into rock music as well as me, so I don't usually have a problem there and for the guys that don't like Bon Jovi they have enough respect not to go making fun. Obviously, now again you get the odd joke being made about them but nothing big.

But to people who ask me which bands I like, I always say Bon Jovi. What's the point in trying to hide it? Often enough, people respect me more if I tell someone straight off instead of trying to hide it, because they then think I'm ashamed and it's perfect for taking the piss.

Haha, no. But - and that's leading to your next question - a Golf Bon Jovi is nothing special. Many people who aren't fans own one. And now to your next question...

It's a VW Golf Limited Edition with small BJ lettering on it. It was sort of promotion for the 96 tour in Europe. There were already Golf limited editions of Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones and more.
Here's mine, with the old KTF sticker...
