No, it was just a different attitude taken by the band. You still had all the commercial crap, it's just the bands who could really play, who got their audiance through their music didn't have to bother. Zeppelin were content not to play stadiums, and sell millions, and have chart sucess... They played the way they played... Do you think they wrote Bron Yorn Stomp, or the link to get commercial success? They came from a time when they let the music do the talking!
Are you saying that the music industry now prevents artists from making music that is longer than 3 mins, and that guitar solo's are banned? If so, how do bands like E.L.P, Yes, Wakeman, Dream Theater put out prog rock, concept albums that are litterally one song being the whole album!

I know about the second world war, I know about the first world war, I know about the war of the roses, I know about Shakespear's work, I know about the Romans..... why, because evidence is left behind, and you can find out about things.... I wasn't alive when Deep Purple started, or even when Bon Jovi started, but I saw both bands when I was 11, and have been following the music religiously ever since then... Plus, I play that style of music, and have a keyboard set up that's worth (new) £3500. I'm not just a kid who's spouting what he's read.... I have a lot of time on my hands because music is my life, and I subsequently don't have many friends.... try getting somebody who isn't into music to understand spending all your money on keybaords and concerts, and spending hours upon hours playing and listeneing..... So I'm kind of guessing this is somethign that sets me asside yes, I have so much time because I love being around people who actually apreciate my opinion on music, and actually like the same music as me (and even apreciate MY music!)

Again, are there only 100 bands in existance? Record deals aren't all the same you know! You can have a record deal if you only play clubs and pubs, if you have fan base that will buy new albums. Sales have always mattered, it's just a case of not letting them dictate the art in the old days... It's hard for new bands, but bands like Bon Jovi don't have to sell out, which is what's so upsetting about these limited edition things!

Exactly. I don't just dislike the album, I think it's a bad album. I don't want people to associate Bon Jovi with that sort of an album, and I want Bon Jovi to have to feel they need to give the fans something more.

BEcause it's put before the music..... Isn't the music what it's all about????

Band's shouldn't be dictated by record lables... point one. Maybe Bon Jovi to have a tip top record deal do, but why not be in charge, have more freedom, and put the fans and music first..... POint two, those "nuts" are fans. Fans buy the records because they beleive in the band, Bon Jovi put out crap they disapoint them, and they'll continue to buy becuase they're fans... they're being ripped of and taken advantage of..... Same with this limited edition thing... Some people really do collect so to speek, so will buy this... But it's not just collecting, they will be fans, and wil love the music. The band ow it to the fans to make these things worth getting, worht having in a collection. They know these fans exist, and the're explointing/ripping them off.

hu, sorry I'm not a raving fool who can't get a grasp of what somethign is from the content.... I've seen the band recently, I've seen the video's, I know what's on it, and know what to expect. I'm also sure that these things are on the file exchange all the time, it's not exactly rare items..... So what you're saying is that everybody should buy something, and then say well, that wasn't woth getting afterwards??? Get real, we all know what's on it, we all know what it is. SO don't try this prejudgemental thing, because you're just talking shit.
I do know exacty what's on it! Read the ****ing content's, then you'll know too!
