That first quote make sense to me. I had a boyfriend who was very clingy. He wanted to be together all the time and it DROVE ME CRAZY. My stance was "I'd like you a lot better if I didn't have to see you all the time." Some people need time to themselves and away from each other because being around someone all the time only makes the things that annoy you more and more obvious while the things you love get overshadowed.
And, yes, he has said they wanted 4 kids. That sounded like a joke to me.
