Jovian, did you notice the etc. after i wrote Kazaa.

I don't mind if people share songs via ICQ, WinMX or by e-mail...
But if this turns into a file sharing community all of a sudden some people will be requesting the latest Bryan Adams single or Who Let The Dogs Out with Britney Spears..........

This is a discussion forum where you can share views or information about Bon Jovi.

By the way what is so fantastic about a 17 sec snippet of a song that you will be listening to a million times after september 23? It s only a frigging month. Take a cold shower...

I am not writing this to start a discussion with fellow BJ fans cause we all have the same things in common - but be realistic....

Just thought I'd point this out.
No, if you aren't in a position to get it yourself....your other option is to wait until the album comes out and you plunk down your cash for it like you are supposed to.

Do your homework regarding Kazaa..you didn't support not using it...you just showed your ignorance. You are willing to use ICQ but demonize Kazaa...guess which one has a long history of hacking, viruses and privacy invasion?

I wasn't talking about songs on the album -- with the exception of Everyday, which I already have on cassette some 4 times and as a radio promo single -- I was talking about the Everyday vid. Yes, I could wait until about 2006 when it'll finally appear on MTV Nordic as an "Early 2000s Classic" but I'm impatient and I want to see the vic ASAP. And I also want to have it in electronic format, not just on a crappy video tape. (Yes, I'm poor, I can't afford a DVD player yet, let alone a DVD recorder, so I'm stuck with a computer.)

Yeah, ICQ may have all that... But I've at least imagined to be safe from all that crap by allowing nobody else but people on my contact list to contact me.

To tell you the truth, I'm actually not too happy about the file sharing programmes... Cause in WAY too many cases, they're simply mis-used. In other words, they're used to get music to save money, which I think is wrong. I have already preordered two different non-European versions of Everyday and the Japanese Bounce, and I intend to buy all my local singles and album versions too. So in that light, I can't see any harm in downloading the Undivided clip or Everyday or the Everyday vid. Yes, in legal terms it would still be wrong to download them, but at least I know I'll be spending a fair share of money on those very same products too.

a) What if I simply don't like the idea of p2p file sharing programmes? And no, I don't consider ICQ a file sharing programme, I've only sent or received files through ICQ a few times since early 2000 when I started using it. To me ICQ is first and foremost a messenger programme with which to keep in touch with my friends.

b) And how do you suppose I do that? Take a peek at the crystal ball? Read tarot cards? See a psychic? :P

c) Like I said, I don't allow ppl who I don't know to contact me through ICQ. And I do have firewalls etc to protect me from attacks...

A) You don't like the idea of file sharing? Don't be asking anyone to share their files via email or messengers. That's the most hypocritical statement I've heard today.

B) Know your files and have a virus scanner...simple. If you don't...get off the computer and give it to someone that can handle it.

C) So? They don't have to contact you through ICQ....it just provides a nice silent window for them to go through without your knowing But as you said..in your MIND you think you are safe while you run around pointing the finger at safer programs.

Did I say I didn't like the idea of file sharing? No. I said I don't like the idea of p2p file sharing programmes, not file sharing as such. Please do not put words in my mouth -- or in my keyboard. And learn to read. Thank you.

I've had a virus scanner in my computer from the very day I got it... And as senile as I may be, I still try to remember to update the virus definition databases regularly, approximately once a week or so. (And no, my old-fashioned but effective virus scanner can't update itself, unfortunately.) I never open e-mail attachments or other files I may receive unless I know exactly what's in them, I block all spam, I don't use HTML mail and I'm generally being as careful as I can when doing things online.

Alright, I admit, I don't know enuff about the security hazards caused by programs like ICQ. But that's what Help Desks are for. I can let you know what our Help Desk will have to say about all this.
