Other BJ masterpiece... this song is a epic history for me, with a guitar lesson by Richie Sambora!

I can't think of this song without thinking that my friend Cheryl hates it and never ever ever wants to hear it live again.

I think it's lyrically one of the best songs Jon's written. I also think the music accents it beautifully and helps tell the story. I tend to agree with Cheryl that it drags a bit live though. I've seen it a couple of times. It doesn't live up to what you expect it to be. I wouldn't mind hearing it live again though... it might sound better to me with my new appreciation for longer guitar solos.

This song never fails to give me the shivers. It just speaks to me on many levels - one of which is a true appreciation for the underdog in life. Musically, it's beautiful with Richie shining on the guitar - and Dave shining on the piano especially when he does the live extended intro. I never thought that this song dragged, it has too much to offer.

I want something like this for the next record, in between the rocksongs. For some reason I always draw a comparison between guns' Estranged, both moody slow rocksongs.

anyway, we all know this is one of their best... I think the everlasting wish on this board for it to be played live have made it an almost legendary song, which is maybe just that little bit too much... but it's a great song nonetheless.

It's definetly one of their best songs, I wish it would be played live.
Do you think they maybe know that we (the fans) want to hear this song at the shows this much?

It's defiantely one of the band's most advanced songs. But don't you find it kind of ironic that it has perhaps THE longest guitar solo in a Bon Jovi song and Richie didn't have a hand it it? (Who knows? Maybe he did and just awsn't credited. But I somehow doubt that.)

Honestly, the song didn't go over very well either time I saw them do it.

You know, Keba, I do wonder how much it takes in the writing process for a song to be co-credited. Look at "Love Ain't Nothing But a Four Letter Word"--the demo was credited to Jon and the f-ed up version (it sounds way too happy for the lyrics) is credited to Jon, Richie, and Desmond if I remember correctly.
