Default dry county's lyrics

hi, i've just heard Dry County song and I don't quite understand it. I don't want it to sound stupid, I just'd liked if someone could help me to explain. Is he angry with God, or is he keeping the Faith in Him? Thanx

how would anybody else know?

It is what YOU interpret it to be. Just like any other song. Who actually cares what the writer had in mind?

I think it's up for interpretation. But, to me, the song is like a spiritual journey. Taken with the rest of the CD's positive message, I tend to see Dry County as another, overall, positive song about coming to terms with life.

Becky

PS... I'm going to move this to General Jovi so other people can weigh in on their opinions too.

Jon went on a cross-country motor cycle trip in '91 during his "grey period" and he came across these towns in the mid-west I believe where alcohol had been banned and they became known as "Dry Counties" and it was really inspired by the lives of the people who lived and worked in such harsh conditions there.

That's obviously just one aspect of it. Like Becky said, it's like a spiritual journey and it's also clearly a very personal song to Jon and you can understand the song alot better if you know what a hard time Jon was going through at that time.

This song is more of a poem then a story. It's not a clear-cut song where there is only one answer to what the lyrics mean, it's a deep, layered songs and you just have to find your own interpretation for what they mean.

That's because I couldn't connect to the server for quite a while after I tried to post. I didn't think my reply even went through.

I interpret it as a town that's lost all its industries, people are moving away and people are losing hope.

hi
I've heard something about their hard time, but what exactly was it? I don't really know much about them as I'm just starting to know them.

From starting out in 84 the band was all just album/tour, album/tour, album/tour. It peaked in an exhaustive 250+ shows world tour that ended 1990. There had been trouble with his long time relationship and today's wife. After the last scandalous gig in Mexico the members were burnt and pretty much fed up with each other and everyone left in a different direction. There were rumours the band would split up (which they never did).

Jon somehow lost track and I believe he didn't exactly know how and why. There was also trouble with the bands long time manager. Jon somehow needed to clean up what he's achieved so far, to find out what was worth keeping and what he needed to get rid of. He went on vacation with a few friends on motorcycles through the Southwest. He needed to come down. He found that the music itself is still what he loves and found the valve for his creativity in his much respected first solo approach that brought him a Grammy and an Academy Award nomination.

He recognized that he was good at what he was doing and that there was a good band, too. They recognized that the basics were still stood, they are all mates and that it was just too much hype for their bodies and minds. They found back together and recorded their first comeback record KTF.
Since then they all have been very careful to keep things under their control and not let things control them.

Not all very factual, but this is pretty much how I would sum it up. Hope it hepls.
