Default "Every word..." vs. "Powerless"

Recently I heard the latest single of Nelly Furtado, named "Powerless". And I have to say that the chorus is very very similar to the chorus of the Jon's solo song "Every word was a piece of my heart" from Destination Anywhere.
For everybody who heard the Furtado's song, what do you think?

I never noticed it before but now that you say it I think you are right.

But I don't think that she stole it from that song or something, I think it's just coincidence. A bit the same like the song Joey from Bon Jovi reminds me of Elton John's Levon.

umm..or NOT! ok, Powerless sounds more familiar than say Bohemium Rhapsedy, but thatz were i draw the line! now that we'r on the topic, most ppl have noticed a similarity between ROckin in the free world and August 7th.. but the other day i was learning Fear on the guitar and realised that the riff is very similar to Enter Sandman by Metallica... or i might just be being silly. ah well

JBJ - I believe

there aren't an endless amount of riffs. of course some will be copied unintentionally or sometimes even intentionally.

Never Say Die from Jo's Blaze Of Glory album sounds a lot like Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are Back In Town; especially the intro.

I was listening to a Metallica song.. "The Unnamed Feeling" a few days ago and after that I put in the newest Nickelback CD, come to find out there is a song that has the same opening riff as "The Unnamed Feeling" I just kinda wonder because there was also another song on that album that was similar to the stuff on St. Anger... Got to wonder sometimes.

Exactly.
And if anything just the first two lines of the chorus sound like EWWAPOMH.
By the way, cool song by Nelly Furtado. I really like it.

I like it too. Come to think of it, I do hear that. Any one ever notice how Bruce's Lonesome Day resembles Sad Song Night? And conversely the slowed down Born to Be My Baby (TLFR) sounds like The River especially with the humming at the end.

You know - I did notice The River/BTBMB because I went to the Atlantic City show and as I was standing and singing along the thought popped into my head.
I never noticed the Lonesome Day connection but I bet I will now
