Ex-Bon Jovi bassist unloads memorabilia

N.J. -- Years ago, Alec John Such provided the backbeat as
bassist for Bon Jovi. It's been 10 years since he left the band, and he
wants to move to a smaller place.
So he decided to auction some memorabilia Sunday, the third such sale he's
held in recent years. This time, though, there weren't many buyers.
A few Fender bass guitars sold for $700 to $750, and a 1960 MGA Roadster
convertible went for $7,500. All told, the auction netted about $30,000 from
300 items.
Last year, a similar auction sold 1,200 items and made a $300,000 profit,
and a 2000 auction took in $400,000.
Pam and Chauncey Cozine of nearby Middletown, bought $1,525 worth of memorabilia, including an autographed Fender bass and
a platinum album award for 1992's "Keep the Faith."
"We've been fans of Bon Jovi's since his big-hair days in the 1980s," Pam
Cozine said. "I thought they were going to sell everything here for a lot
more. I didn't think we'd get anything."
Such is also selling his colonial-style home and three acres of property.
"I broke my hip when my car was hit head-on by a drunk driver in 1995," said
Such, 52. "I just don't feel like walking up and down stairs anymore."
