now this is difficult!
van halen are very good (actually they are brilliant!) and def leppard is also very good, one of my favorites!

*thinking*

I go with def leppard!

by the way wasn't it eddie van halen who discovered tapping (I don't know if there is a word like that in English, but you know, when you taps the strings on the guitarr!!), or?

he wasn't no,

many guitarists from 70s (blackmore etc, gilmour) had been messing around with the guitar to get different sounds out of it

but as far as i'm concerned EVH created "tapping" as we all know it

I went for van Halen - would've said GnR cause their albums are excellent, but I don't think GnR is a hair band...

Guns 'N Roses I just wrote a nine page term paper on them for my US history class...we could write on any topic we wanted.

But no way in hell are Metallica and GNR hair bands! And neither was Van Halen. :P

GnR was considered a 'hair band' when they first started, but only for a very short while (look at Axl's poofed up hair and lipstick). After AoD came out, they're more 'rock n roll'.

Yup, Welcome To The Jungle is a hair band video. After that though, no more big hair!!
