Sorry Deb I have to disagree here. Jon is hardly ''well spoken'' and I would say that a large percentage of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is pure lies anyway, and the rest are a complete contradiction of something he has said previously (too countless to mention...but my personal favourite, I have seen that he allowed the 60 minutes camera crew to accompany him and his family to the Star Wars exhibition they visited, so it looks like aftere all his posturing about protecting his family he is going to be parading them on 60 Minutes. I could be wrong but it certainly looks that way) . As a businessman sure he has made several good moves but he has also made several bad moves. How many years of Bon Jovi were spent paying off his cousin for a bad business deal? The handshakes he made in Nashville were hardly acted upon either. Just like any other frontman in his position he has made several mistakes, many of which have changed the course of the band. ''Clever'' rock stars don't make their business so public in the first place. Mick Jagger has a degree in economics and he manages not to make himself look like a middle aged businessman like Jon does a lot of the time.

Liza,
Being articulate has nothing to do with truthfulness or contradictions, lol! And even the smartest of business men make bad decisions but surely you would admit that the band is still here and relevant because of Jon's decisions whether you agree with them or not. Give credit where credit is due.

I didn't say that it did Deb. I don't especially find Jon to be articulate IMO, but that is just my opinion. I think he believes he is though. I also said that Jon is no different from any other businessman in as much as he has made good decisions and bad decisions but I would say there are more bad than good in more recent years. So you might want to re-read what I wrote. It's also fair to say that Jon isnt the sole business venturist in the group; Doc McGhee managed the band for several years and they have had many many advisors around them as a group who have given them their opinions accordingly. Jon has never ever been on his own in anything to do with this band.

And I won't give credit where it's ''do'' but I will where it is due and I think you'll find that I didnt slate Jon as much as you think I did. I just happen to think that he has been more fallible than many people are willing to notice.

Ah, thanks for the correction.

With his education level and considering most musicians, and I'm speaking from my experience, are fairly one dimensional as far as conversing, I think Jon is very articulate. From speaking with my share of musicians (and I love them), a lot times they know music and that's it. From interviews, Jon, appears to be able to hold his own on just about any topic. And again, most musicians (and this is from my dealings with them as CPA) completely have a glazed over look when I talk about contracts or anything business related, they don't want to be involved which I find shocking. At least, Jon, is involved in the business decisions whether they are bad or good and he's the one that shoulders the blame.

I just find it interesting you want to pick on my comment for why Jon is my favorite. I wouldn't do the same if you gave the reasons for why you like Richie the best.

Didn't mean to make it sound like I was picking on you Deb, because I wasn't, it's just you happened to mention what is one of my particular bugbears when it comes to Jon. I also don't know if I agree that most musicians are inarticulate because I don't see that Jon is any different to be honest. It's rare any musician gets asked about contracts publicly, let alone Jon, and to be in the industry there has to be a certain level of competency to be able to have any handle on what is happening. He has certainly made his fair share of ridiculous comments on politics and has been called out about them (the famous ''I'm normal, I'm republcan'' being a personal fave of mine) As for Jon, yes publicly he makes it appear as if he shoulders the blame but I guarantee many people have been fired over the years for things either failing or for not maintaining certain things Jon requires, look at what happened to Kurt only recently (no one can tell me that his inability to not place work dates with Bon Jovi on his online calendar didn't cause huge problems), and I'm also curious as to where Jack Rovner has gone since the country move has changed direction.

That's not the reason Kurt got let go, I do know that for a fact. And Jack Rovner is still very much around. He's been at every show I've been to.

We'll have to agree to disagree on Jon's intelligence and ability to be articulate.
