I thought that 1987 performance of Silent Night sounded awful. Jon was literally in pain..all those high screaming notes on Livin' On A Prayer. Ack.. It just sounds terrible to listen to. That's why I don't like the Slippery Days..too brutal.

I do however enjoy the performance on the Crush Tour DVD though it doesn't due the band justice to as good as they really are. Live From Londom 95 is good but the set list isn't so spectacular (not like now )

Umm.. I have lots of favorites..most of them are newer...but I can't pick.

Livin On A Prayer, MTV performance from back in the days (87) when Jon can actually hit the high notes...
That's one of the greatest ever.

Whoa.. No way. He couldn't hit them so well on the MTV performance. They were all faded out... He was in pain. The Slippery tour was just horrible. He can hit the notes now..... He hits lots of high notes now. It's pretty amazing..but vocal chords DEVELOP over time rather than faded unless you don't treat them right.

But enough about that... anyway, the performances in those days were incredibly harsh. Jon sings way better now. And he's not stupid anymore!

Bed Of Roses, from the Crush Tour Video/DVD in Zurich. Brilliant.

For me its a throw up between:

The hardest part is the night - vid clip

Livin on a prayer - slippery vid/MTV live (different version with the fireworks)

Bed of roses - vid clip

Lay your hands on me - Vid clip

Sorry gotta disagree with that.
Jon now hits 'high' notes because the band tune the guitars down more than they used to. I understand why they do this though, to save Jon's voice, which is a very important instrument.
