Default Fields of Fire, KTF? or TD?

What year belongs to the studio version of Fields of Fire? When I record the studio version?

Fields of Fire Live 1993

Fields of Fire (Studio) released 1996

These Days studio sessions? or Keep The Faith studio sessions?

It sounded like it was freshly written as of 1993 so I'd guess pre These Days, post Keep the Faith (was Wedding Day from around this point maybe?)

guitars sounds similar "something for the pain".The voice in the studio version takes me to 1994. The mix of the song is similar to the album these days.

It was recorded in sessions Crossroad-These Days?

Wow! Had no idea they had played it live. Always thought it was written/ recorded at the same time as These Days. Cheers for that. Such a great song! Sounds a lot like Fire Inside.... What era was that one from?

Heh, I never put those together but the overal sound of those tracks is quite similar and it wouldn't surprise me if Wedding Day was actually from the same sessions. The inlay for the These Days bonus disc edition says Fields Of Fire was recorded in Vancouver 1992 though and Jon's vocals sound very much 1992-ish.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Oh really? I guess that makes sense. I guess I always assumed it was from that earlier batch of '93/'94 songs (Wedding Day, When She Comes, Prostitute).

Lonely at the top and Bitter Wine (demo electric) voice similar than Fields of Fire however. I miss more outtakes/b-sides in recent years.

If Jon's story is to be believed and Lonely at the Top is about Kurt, he didn't kill himself until April of 1994, the time line could fit. I'm pretty sure the rockier Bitter Wine is one of the earlier songs too.

Well the line "Tell Frannie, I'm sorry she didn't get to know her Dad" is about Frances Bean. So unless he just added in those lines after Kurt's death, the I would say that the song was written during the TD timeline. He even said that when he wrote the song, he was thinking about his own daughter, who was born May 93.

about this song, my these days special edition 1996 clearly says that this song recorded at keep the faith session in vancouver 1992, and this song totally sounds like keep the faith, but my favourite from this era it's radio saved my life tonight, still sounds fresh for me
