The band writes songs because of their love for music! They certainly don't need to have more money. If they didn't love what they do, they would retire without a single worry about finances! They keep doing it because they have the passion for writing songs and performing live. Now, just because some of you think they've become a crappy band doesn't mean that they lost their passion! They're just evolving as a band and if the music they're doing now doesn't suit you, then it's not their problem.

They do it because its what they do.. Its their job. Just like everyone has a job that they have good times and bad times with.

They may make some decisions based on monetary rewards. They make decisions based on their own personal agendas. But overall they still write and play music because they love it.

But lust doesn't sell records and concert tickets for 20 years. I personally wouldn't go to a concert from any artist if I didn't like their music and with concert tickets as expensive as they are, I think anyone who would go to a concert for "looks" would realize that they'd get a better deal for the money if they stayed home and looked at some photos or watched a DVD. Well, unless they have that IQ of a throw rug you keep talking about.
Trust me Becky many moons ago I USED to think fans did not care about it ..oh I agree about some Richie fans some do carry on as well ..and no im not a musical snob . Actally I myself play piano and guitar and went to college taking cources in in . Im not saying folks dont go for loving the music
as well . THEY do ...Id like to think most do ...but maybe you just dont attend the same shows I go to . If you were there you would see what Im saying . Sadly they do have an Iq of a throw rug ( not all the fans A good lot of them and Im not saying you cause I DONT know you ) but Im just telling like I see it . I go to shows not for there bodies ..if im in the minority then so be it ..but sadly I just go for the music and how great the songs are .
Are they worried about getting a better deal for the money? nah...sadly this is the only " action mentally" a lor of them get all year ...Im not saying YOU Becky just the ones Ive seen and met . 35 40 years old and still having dreams about Jon and posting them on message boards for the world to read ( YES EVEN the Richie fans do it Ill agree with you) and I often wonder if they think a vast section of their fan base are nutters

According to Jon, they didn't do it for money. He was playing with Springsteen in bars, with Southside Johnny...this guys were stars but they never acted like that, at least SSJ. I think it was the thrill of being famous and being admired. At least for Jon.
I'm sure ALEC and TICO tried BJ for the money.

And Richie was actually pretty welloff before BJ also. He was going to college, he owned a bar or something so I don't think he played guitar because he was starving but because he knew he is the ****in best out there.

After they got big they wanted to be bigger and bigger. That meant money and more money. I mean, it's countless interviews in which Jon says that the money is the best part of his job, or that he can keep the house as opposed to Bill Clinton who can't etc etc. But I think it was fine as long as they still had the balls to release songs they wanted to release. Like Keep The Fiath, Dry County or Hey God.

I still don't think they release records only for money or play tours only for the money but they are definetly going the most profitable way. Look at the single choices or thesingle themes. All the same. When did they release something different...ok, maybe Say It Isn't So. Why did they not release Undivided or Last MAn Standing...and don't tell me it was the record company since I am sure Bon Jovi are big enough to decide upon what single to release. They would have never released AALY e.g. in the past, would they?

Now about Richie...he said zillions of times that playing solos is like having orgasms and how he doesn't understand why guitarists don't solo anymore and I even remember him criicizing St. Anger for the lack of solos...I mean what the hell??? He would love to do some but they don't sell so he just keeps them as short as possible. Now if it was for the love of music he would do them and don't tell me that music has changed and shit like that because I have just seen Billy Idol and there were more solos there than he had in the past. Also, the show is just as energetic and maybe there weren't 100 000 people in that arena but there were a heck load of people who paid their 60 € t see him and everybody was satisfied.

Another motive is fame, I think Jon has this urge for fame. And that motivates him.

Dont you think he would move to Hollywood then, if its for the fame?
And he would leave his wife and start dating young famous moviestars...

If he done that, then I would agree with you

Yes, you might get what you want, but you also live in the US and they do a lot of touring there. And I'm not sure that releasing stuff every year is a sign of doing “things” for the fans, it's rather doing what the record company wants you to do.

But yes, you are right the boxset was a good release.
