im 18 and i know a few ppl about my age who like bon jovi, but its certainly not a majority. the problem is theyre too hard for pop kids who like stuff like busted, mcfly, justin timberlake and maroon 5, but theyre not hard enough for a lot of punks, metalheads, hardcore ppl, etc. you cant keep everyone happy. i listen to a variety of music anyway - most kinds of rock, for example: stuff like da jovi (guns n roses, def lepard, aerosmith, the darkness, U2, etc), harder stuff like ac/dc, metallica and iron maiden, soft stuff like coldplay, travis and snow patrol, weird progressive stuff like radiohead, genesis, muse and the mars volta, and a lot of punk, from old bands like the clash and buzzcocks to newer ones like sum 41 and green day, and rock n roll bands like the stones, the beatles and the who; and other types of music like classical (which i play), opera, ska, reggae and funk.
i have strong preferences and opinions in music but i try to be open minded as possible - unfortunately a lot of ppl aren't open minded about music (or anything else!) and they won't try to see why you like the music you like. ive had a lot of shite from ppl who dont like bon jovi, especially when i was around 14 years old (people are very bitchy at that age!) but they often improve when they get older (say about 1. if they havent improved by the time theyre 18 to 20, then theyre never gonna grow up, and theyre probably the sort of ppl who only listen to one type of music or one band, and wont try listening to anything else or trying to understand why you listen to the music that you listen to.
one thing to bear in mind if you are under your country's legal age for drinking: wait until you and everyone else your age is old enough to drink alcohol. then go to a party with alcohol and a DJ. when the DJ plays "livin on a prayer", everyone will sing along, especially in the chorus when they will sing it at the tops of their voices! even ppl who normally think theyre too cool to like jovi will join in. it is normally cos (a) theyre drunk so they lose all inhibitions, (b) they think everyone else is drunk so they think they can do whatever they like and everyone will be too drunk to remember it the next day, or (c) they just copy the people around them, so when they see ppl liking jovi theyll copy them.

I'm 18 and the only Bon Jovi fan in my vicinity is my 16 year old brother. We heard Living On A Prayer 8 years ago and have been loyal fans ever since. Sadly, I've never met anyone my age who likes Bon Jovi. I have also received plenty of ridicule over the years for my devotion to this band, but I've never been the least bit ashamed about it, and i've never tried to hide it. Why the hell should I be ashamed of liking one of the best rock & roll bands in the world?

And it really pisses me off when people say that Bon Jovi is "too soft" for them. Anyone who says that obviously hasn't heard their best stuff, and are needlessly depriving themselves of some of the most amazing music ever made. There must be a reason why Bon Jovi have managed to outlast so many of their 80's contemporaries.

I have to agree with some of you that unfortunately their recent records have strayed too far into the pop realm. I'm still patiently waiting for the next These Days or Keep The Faith.

im 16 and i only know 2 people at my school who likes bon jovi.
when i first found out that one of them likes bon jovi i actually had tears in my eyes because i was so happy that i finally found someone else that likes them.

all of my close friends think that bon jovi is gay/old/ugly/'out' and the only bon jovi songs that they know are probably 'it's my life' , 'say it isn't so' and 'everyday'.

i try to listen to as many different sounds as possible and i love talking about music and bands and stuff but when i talk about bon jovi (and some older bands) i get 'oh my god, they are so gay' and ' ...but they are so the 80's! why do you only like old people?', and sometimes teased for saying that Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora's good looking. it does bother me a bit but i still go on about them anyways ha ha...

i tried to introduce bon jovi to a couple of people by getting them to listen to 'living on a prayer' 'always' and 'i'll be there for you' over the phone, but now i just look obsessed or something. But looking obsessed's okay, cos i guess i am obsessed.

I think there are A LOT of closet-jovifans, atleast where I come from. And the same story for me, my friends made fun of BJ but not anymore, either it´s maturing or them realising I really like the music. And they always, on purpose, call them Jon Bon Jovi, and refer to them as him. I always correct them but still it goes on.

I'm new here. I'm 14 and I love Bon Jovi (though I only really got into them a couple months ago). Unfortunately, most of my friends don't even know who Bon Jovi are. They'd much rather listen to rap and punk music (which is not a back thing, just give Bon Jovi a chance). One guy went online and looked them up, then he came back to me and said "But... aren't they really old? Are they even still alive anymore?" I sat at my computer exactly like this . Even my Aunts, Uncles, and cousins are shocked that I listen to Bon Jovi

When I went to Ibrox on the Bounce tour, I went to see my Uncle who lives in Ayr in the afternoon cos I was bored and he said "You really like them? That Jon Bon Jovi's no spring chicken now, is he?" and then he started making clucking noises It was kinda funny though
