I don't think age is a matter really. I was 7 when I became a fan and I still preferred the older stuff. Prayer, Always.. even Bad Medicine. Obviously, we can all see a change in the band, but there's a change in time so it was bound to happen.

Having said that, I love the post 2000 stuff still. The Circle atm is my 2nd fav album (Gets ready for Seb to make some sort of comment) but whether it will still be there in a year or 2 is a different matter. That's what I think is the problem now with the band. They release stuff that sounds good for the first couple of months, and then it gets boring.

I enjoyed LH .. a lot .. when it first came out. Now, it's just shot right down!

When I first became a fan as a teenager I liked the post 2000 stuff as well as the early stuff like LOAP.

But I soon started falling in love with the 90s stuff + New Jersey. I think it's more mature and a bit deeper. To this day it's the reason I am a fan.

I would not want the band to try to recreate the very early days. It's so over the top it would be too cheesy now

I know exactly what you mean! Im the same. It's a funny thing we do.

That was a great post Gunner. I was born in 1989 and only became a fan around 2003/2004 when I got my hands on Cross Road. HAND was my first ever Jovi studio album and when I heard it for the first time I was slightly disappointed. However once I really got into the band I loved it. It took me a bit to warm up to the album and now I cant get enough of it (if you look past the couple of filler tracks). It was the same deal with Lost Highway.

I love every single post 2000 album by the band. I prefer SWW, NJ, KTF and TD perhaps just a little more, but I listen to songs from every post 2000 album daily.

Interesting topic.

I get into Bon Jovi with Crossroads. I listened to it and I said to me, "wow this is great!". Then I didn't listen These days. The first whole album I was listening A LOT was Crush. Then I get into Bon Jovi world and listened to all the albums. I think the old is better too. You can find in post 2000 era some songs that could perfectly fit in the old days, but the new mainstream songs and the most comercial influence made some albums like Crush/Bounce/HAND/LH a bit boring. Anyway I think that these albums are great. Bon Jovi always was somekind of commercial and mainstream band. Livin on a prayer is a comercial song? Isn't it? I think it is. And I'm sure that if many post 2000 songs were in Slippery when wet album , everybody would be here saying "wow! that was the best of times!" I mean, sometimes is not only about the music, is about you. We change too and we usually look back and say..."That was better!".

Nostalgy. I'm really nostalgic. Not just with Bon Jovi band, with another bands that I like a lot too.

Imagine the post 2000 era with Bon Jovi making sounds/compositions/songs similar to pre 2000 era. Then, maybe you would say: " oh no! he is always making the same kind of songs!" Even many people is getting mad cause there's an intro in WFTM that reminds Livin on a prayer...

All this things are difficult to explain. What it's clear is that Bon Jovi was more commercial after These days. Anyway it's clear that Bon Jovi as a band had no other path.

I was born in 1991 too!

I became a fan when I was about 3 years old, when Always, KTF and Bed of Roses were in heavy circulation on MTV. I was in love with MTV back then (nowadays it's pure shite, sadly). I then got two jovi casettes (don't really know how. my parents said I asked for them, but I can't remember...) that I listened to day and night. They were Crossroads and These Days. So lucky me, I grew up on TD, and didn't even know SWW or NJ existed until way after Bounce came out.

I then saw It's my life on TV, and thought 'wow bon jovi has a new album! Let's go get it!' So Crush was the first album that I bought consciously. I was 9 at the time. The same happened with Bounce. I started learning English around that time, so I began to somewhat understand the lyrics and the meaning of the songs too. Till then it was just oooo, shezalidde raaaaaaanuweeee. It was pure fun.

We had our internet connection installed when TLFR came out, so that was an album I found out about from the net. I really liked TLFR back then, and still very much like it today. I also found out about the missing part of the jovi discography from the web and started to discover those albums too one by one.

HAND was an album I even heard snippets from also from the net, and that was my first dissapointment too. The snippets sounded much better than the album did. So to compensate, I started downloading bootlegs. First some audio bootlegs, then some little videos too, then uprgaded form rapidshare to torrent and started collecting dvds. My collection-mania lasted troughout the LH era so I didn't care about the quality of that album, cause downloading was so much fun.

But some months ago I got bored by downloading too. So the circle is on it's own now and not doing very well. I wonder what I'll find next to keep myself busy. But so far it seems my jovidays are coming to an end. Their music just doesn't do it for me anymore. Not because they have dissapointed me so many times, it's just that my musical taste pretty much changed.

Anyway, I will still keep an eye on them in the future, still listen to all their new releases. And I will be eternally grateful for them (and mtv too of course) for showing me the right way that early. TD was indeed a great place to start.

Hmm, seems the '91 generation have a lot in common. I became a fan when I was 6, so I grew up with the old stuff. And yes, how could I forget, I was born in 1991, also. Yeh for me!

Anyhoo, just to throw in my opinion, I can say that 'The circle' is a step in the right direction for the guys. It might not be the best album, but hell, to me it's the best one since TD. I think the guys should take a well deserved break, and find that 'inspiration' and 'passion' again. I'm not saying that they didn't put passion into 'the Circle,' but somehow I know the album is just a fraction of good they really are.

I'm not gonna lose faith in the band, and f*ck you if you're gonna tell me I follow them blindly, because I don't, I'm just not gonna be a cynical bastard about the whole thing.

It's strange, really, a lot of people say Bon Jovi suck, but they take over the bloody world anyway, wether they suck or not. Ironic, isn't it?

I never was a fan of A-Ha but I have to admit I really liked "The Sun Always Shines On TV". By the time, the video for it was being played continously on Sky TV...

i was born in 1986 and my brother loved bon jovi. All i used to hear in the house when i was younger was the slippery when wet populer tracks like loap and bad name but i had never a huge interest at the time.i did like its my life when it came out but i still wasnt taking much notice of them but then in 2003 when the band were on the bounce tour i won 2 tickets to go the concert on my local radio station.it was in lansdowne road in ireland.I coudnt believe the amount of effort and time the band put into the concert.it was 2 and half hours long and it was excellent.they are an awesome band live and even their shittier songs are 10 times better in a stadium.Since then ive been to all their irish shows which have been epic concerts. For anyone to fully appreciate this band they have to be seen live because their promotion for albums on tv and radio shows are terrible and makes the band look so boring.Jon seems to be glued to the microphone and never interacts with a studio crowd and most of their tv performances with the instruments were mimed except for jon singing.he has even got too lazy to swing around his arms when performin wwbtf.he is now is holding a guitar in which he is barely even playing.I guarantee dat absolutly no effort will be put in2 the superman tonight video.I absolutley love the new album but they are certainly not making any new fans by doing the promotion work with a total lack of effort.
