leaves you feeling like a dirty whore appeals to the male persona? I thought a whore was by definition female :S

Just because the main character in a song seems to be a male, does not mean females can't relate to it.

As Kathleen already stated, making ends meet is not a male job only. If you think so, you should read up a bit and have a talk with the misses!

only females love and have feelings and are romantic? I doubt it.

I suppose I am an alpha female then (not that I had any doubts on that one )

Unless you happen to have personal experience that says contrary.
I don't. But from a preference standpoint, I have zero interest in someone who won't treat me the same way I treat him, regardless of whether I'd come out of it with more privileges or benefits or whatever.

I'm male (obviously) and I love it. I think it's just a great song in all aspects from start to finish. I wouldn't say it's a guy song, as the lyrics aren't gender specific. It could apply to anyone that has seen their town/city/county/state/country sucked dry with nothing of any value left.

But the beauty of DC is that it is full of metaphors and the disintegrating locale is only one way of interpreting that song... there are so many more faucets (sp) to it that make it impossible to put it in a boys/girls song any which way one looks at it....
