I think it's a little silly to wish they actually don't win the award because winning would influence the direction of their music. I don't think a Grammy holds that much power to influence them artistically.

Bon Jovi has sold 120 million CDs and barely been nominated. I bet they are much more appreciative of that CMT Award that fans voted on than they ever would be of a Grammy. At least, that's the way I read them. I don't think they're stupid or unprofessional enough to snub the Grammy should they win it, but I don't think it really matters to them. If you asked Jon if he'd rather win the People's Choice Award or the Grammy, he'd say the People's Choice Award.
Yep I agree. I think Jon even mentioned something along these lines at the UK Music Hall of Fame. The way I look at it is this, if someone like Britney Spears could even be nomimated for a Grammy, they can't be all that credible anyway.

That category has been around for years. They have 108 categories for everything from rock to country to children's recording to opera to orchestral to spoken word to album packaging.

Grammy doesn't say a shit about anything. Obviously it is an honour but the fact that U2 has won one with the song Beatiful Day sums it up pretty well...

Becky, where did you hear they're at 120 million sold? It was just over 100,000,000 when the box set was released so this figure sounds a little high.

Back on topic, it's always nice to be nominated for these things but I still cringe at the thought of their first Grammy being for a country duet. That said, Jon would rather be at a football game than the Grammys so that tells us how he feels about the whole thing.

Thanks Becky. I guess HAND has sold more than I thought or maybe pushed new fans to go and purchase their back catalogue.

Meh.

Surely they have an award for Tour of the year or something? I'd be happier with them winning one for that, or obviously Best Album, but HAND winning a grammy? That would just be funny.

It doesn't matter that there ain't a Grammy for 'Tour of the Year', because they'll never win that one. Maybe somewhere in the grey past, before '97, they would have had a chance to win it.

Why? It's not like the voters are people who are going to say "Hey, they used to be really really good in the 90's, and now they're really good". They're selling consistently, so unless they were running against the Stonesor U2, they'd probably take that one.
