Aloha !

Nice to see McCartney being nominated again. Memory Almost Full is a good album, and a lot better than Lost Highway is. McCartney re-invented himself a bit again, while Bon Jovi just started ripping off from themselves and others. I haven't heard the other 3 albums, and can't be bothered about them either, to be honest.

It makes me wonder though. (You Want To) Make A Memory never charted at all in the USA, yet it is chosen as best pop song? Shouldn't the best pop song actually be a song that was in the charts for some time, since that's the intention of a pop song? A popular song?

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

The Grammy's very often don't reflect what was most popular or most played Seb. In fact, there are alot of times when I think no one is really sure where they come up with their nominations!!! LOL.

As for MAM. it seems to have been on a slow burn here in the US. I was surprised at the great reaction it got at the Pru. There were alot of people there that knew that song and were singing along.

Also interesting to see them not bothering the 'rock' category anymore. Mind you, they've put U2 in there as well.

The Grammys and their odd choices always confuse me, as its never actually representitive of what the american public actually like half the time, but what a handful of 'judges' deem worthy.

Can't believe I'm actually arguing against BJ's inclusions, its usually the other way around and us moaning about them being overlooked again.

Doesn't matter in the long run, its not like they're ever going to win anyway!

The Grammy categories always confuse me anyway, theres not much difference really between this best performance and best song categories, and the best album and best record categories as criteria in themselves.

JBJ - I believe

"Sambora's face is a mask of joyous disbelief, as if previously unaware of his ability to play the instrument at all. Reaching the last fistful of notes, he does a fair impression of a man who is actually ejaculating into his jet black flares."

At least they are right with that. The Grammy jury made a lot of dubious decisions over the years (Jethro Tull getting best Hard Rock or Millie Vanillie winning) but they are right this time. However, if Who Says was nominated for best country something than I guess that Lost Highway should have been as well.

Award ceromonies don't hold much importance with the band (or me for that matter ) and only the public decided ones are worth bothering with at all as far as I'm concerened.

I agree about the McCartney record - I enjoyed it.

Memory may never have charted here (I'll take your word for it - I seldom look at charts) but it has been all over the radio. Everybody seems to know it - even the 18 year old friends of my daughter who certainly don't listen to Bon Jovi. At the Newark shows with a Jersey audience it was one of the biggest sing-alongs of the evening. It certainly has been out there getting an audience.

Make A Memory did chart top 10 on the Billboard Hot AC chart and is still in the top 10 (got as high as number 5) I believe, number 7 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

Edited to say, just checked the Billboard AC chart and it is at 11 in it's 25th week on the chart.
