I always thought a groupie was someone who had sex with/gave sexual favours to the crew/roadies to get to the band members. or had sex with anyone what was famous for the buzz of having sex with some one who was famous.

I guess the definition of 'groupie' has changed if it just means hanging around a band member and wanting to have sex with them lol

nope - sex itself doesn't make one a groupie - the intent is what makes it.

tons of groupies - some get laid some don't. the ones that don't get any aren't any less of a groupie as the ones that do.
