A fact: any 80's hairband had musicians that could technically outplay any member of any grungeband.

Your opinion doesn't matter, this is a fact. Doesn't mean it's better (though in my opinion there's no contest), but it's still a fact.

Ice
Wow, Nirvana are sssooooo much more than noise. WTH? Have you listened to their songs?

Yes. I have. I know how to play a bunch of them as well. I know a lot about Nirvana. And they're still more about noise than music. Plus, I'd rather listen to any 80s hair band, even those I don't like, than Nirvana.

Like I said, wrong thread for you. This is about the appreciation of hair bands, not for your tirade to "defend" grunge bands (which, BTW is somewhat stupid to do on a Bon Jovi board...).

You obviously don't get it. Can't you feel it? Kurt had more emotion than almost anyone. You're obviously not that kind of person. You're probably more a thinker than a feeler.

It's not the wrong thread for me. I like some hair bands too. Infact love. I also don't see how it's stupid to defend Grunge, just because it's a Bon Jovi board. A lot of people here don't even like Bon Jovi anymore. Surely they're the one's that are more stupid than me simply defending Grunge.

A matter of opinion, not facts. And you better not start telling others what to think or feel. You don't know me, don't tell me what I feel or do not feel. And besides, this has nothign to do with feeling.

Defending grunge on a board dedicated to a hair band in a thread for appreciating hair bands? It's stupid. Like deliberately going onto a board for the colour red telling everyone that green is better. Stupid.

Yeah, Kurt had more emotion than almost anyone, so he shoot himself... So I'm asking.. What emotion was that? There are plenty of people who are feelers and like BJ. But I think it's good to differ emotion from makin' a victim from yourself... By the way, don't you think "Dry County" for example gives more emotion than Nirvana? The music, the solo, the song is a big load of emotion... You could feel it even without the words... It's so called art..

Hey, calm down. I try to never tell people how to think or feel. I can't stand that in a person. Obvioulsy I **** up sometimes, because I'm human. But I'm certainly not trying to tell you how to think or feel. That's actually what I'm trying to stop here. It's just a fact that some people are more thinkers and some people are more feelers. The tounge smiley at the end was to try and show you I wasn't being nasty. I would have just gussed you as more that type, but if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

Ah, but that's where you're wrong you see. I'm not saying Grunge is better. I am trying to say it's a matter of opinion. The opposite of what you are accusing me of. You are the one saying this reporter dudething is right and I'm wrong. No?

Nirvana were essentially a punk band, and technical ability was never part of their MO really. However, I defy you to say that Pearl Jam are not stunning musicians.

And about this whole thread, must it really be one or the other? Is it not allowed to like .. *gasp* ... BOTH types of music?

Don't even go there. That's a whole different subject, and your little comment is very dissrespectful. Ugh, seriously.

I know that. I'm a feeler big time. (Don't even get me started on the MBTI stuff. )

Dry County has a bunch of emotion. So does a lot of Jovi songs. I never said otherwise. But more than Nirvana? No. Not in my opinion.

BTW, I don't think all songs have to have shitload of emotion. They are usually my personal favourites though. But I will listen to songs/artists that don't.

Yes, the reporter was right, hair bands are musically more interesting. You can easily see or even measure if you will, that hair bands had much more accomplished musicians than any of the grunge bands. Which one you like is a matter of opinion. Technical or musical ability isn't.

Pearl Jam are better than Nirvana, but in terms of technical musical ability, they're still nowhere close the hair bands of the 80s.

You can like what you want, but this thread is about hair bands. To come here and start "defending" grunge is just stupid. If you make a thread about Radiohead, I'm not going to come in saying Radiohead sucks, although I might think that.

Nirvana cant hold a candle to Bon Jovi or any 80s metal band. (I am deliberately evasive of the "hair" tag!) Not for musical, entertainment, or emotional value. They were big because it was a new sound, something different and not because they were particularly great at producing music. If we are going to play the game of all famous bands and artists make great music and deserve praise, then, Girls aloud will storm the grammies next year >_<

Cobain is also hailed as a guitar hero! i mean WTF. i dont get what was great about that guy.
