Default Hall of Fame time again

Nominations come out tomorrow morning. Who thinks Bon Jovi will be nominated? Yeah, me neither.

Eligible for the first time this year includes Sheryl Crow, Beck, No Doubt, and Sublime.

Beck is a critic’s darling. I think he’ll be nominated. I know one song by him. 🙄

Getting inducted into the HOF is the only way I can see Jon and Richie on the same stage again. Hell, if BJ gets inducted maybe we'll even get to see Alec play with the band again!

From what I understand based on how much they talk about the HOF on Volume, the Hall determines which members get in when there are line up changes. I’m sure they would include Richie, but I’m not so sure they would include Alec. He’s been gone longer than he was in the band.

Both Richie and Alec would be inducted. This is good news. I don't think it'll be happen but it's the right first step.

I actually think they'll get in. Probably not this year, but eventually.

I recently watched a podcast with Chris Jericho where he had Eddie Trunk as a guest. And Eddie said something I hadn't known before - once an artist gets inducted in the HOF, he/she also gets a vote. As a result, the snobs that created HOF and try their hardest to prevent the bands they don't take seriously from getting in (e.g. Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Kiss, Hall & Oates, etc.) are gradually losing their influence as the total number of voters increases. I think it's a big reason why we have seen inductees that we didn't previously expect (Kiss, Hall & Oates). Thus the more poppier bands get in, the more likely it gets that Bon Jovi does too.

"When?" is the question I don't particularly care about, because they (Jon) are already past the point of sounding decent in the induction performance (the ship sailed in 2013), so the only value will be the nostalgia from seeing them playing with Richie (and maybe Alec) together, which will still be relevant.

I’m kind of shocked and kind if cynical and kind of hopeful too. But another factor they talk about is the presentation is televised now so they usually have to induct someone who will get people to watch. Bon Jovi with Richie would definitely bring viewers to see how they were together. Can Alec even play anymore? Didn’t he say in the 2000’s at one point he had not touched an instrument in years?

The really interesting question is....
If they finally get inducted,
Will Richie show up the day of the ceremony or will he be spending time with his family?

Of course Richie is going to go. In fact I think Richie is always was more passionate about being induced than Jon in the interviews.
