Nah I'm usually a sucker for emotional things, but the vid just doesn't do it for me. Yeah I see them shouting and screaming but I just don't buy it - it seems like two actors EMOTING for all they're worth by seeing who can shout the loudest, and it just comes across as way over the top.

But maybe you're right, I may just be a hardened cynic.

maybe not glorifying war, but it certainly romantizes the war in iraq. It shows soldiers moving through a deserted city coming under attack almost out of the blue. It gives the impression that the soldiers are the innocent victims --- at no point does the video show true victims. The only iraqis shown are women shouting obscenities - again - out from nowhere, giving the impression that the soldiers are the ones to be pitied with. No context as to who actually destroyed the devastated city in the first place. Iraqis seem to be faceless enemies attacking our brave and loved soldiers....

It makes the soldiers seem larger than life - especially with the pretty girl waiting at home. It could easily be used as a recruitment video.

At least those are the gripes the anti-war people have with the video....

I like Morcheeba! Tape Loop, Howling, Fear & Love, and Never an Easy Way are all good songs. Their music is usually described as electronic and often has a haunting quality.

well u gotta imagine yourself in the girls shoes her bf off in the war not many can picture that but its not a good thing so i thought the emotion was pretty real.

I've never been a big Green Day fan but I totally agree with your assessment. I actually only listen to the first half of the cd the rest is pure filler if you ask me.

I wouldn't call it filler... They had to make songs to keep with the story. Songs such as She's A Rebel, Letterbomb, Homecoming, ETC are all songs that play a crucial role in keeping the story on track.
