I just listened to five songs (to those who want to hear these songs, check out the following link:
http://www.wanadoo.fr ), and I have differents feelings. the songs are Undivided, Everyday (you can also find the video on the wanadoo page), Joey, All About Loving You and Bounce.
First of, it's Bon Jovi 2002, no doubt about it, it's very mature, very well written and produced. And it's a bit heavier than the last couple of studio releases. Bounce is really upbeat, pedal-to-the-floor rythm and BJ balls-to-the-walls style. I didn't imagine the band would come back to the heavier side of their music one day. Sure it's not as heavy as some stuff they released in the past like If I was Your Mother, but definitly, there are melting emotions there, anger, fear... maybe the 11/9 tragedy kicked their writing in one way?
Also, it seems that they used more strings section than ever. They were asked in 1995 for TD if it was a Led Zepellin influence... but their music need now this part of arrangements. For Runaway, it would have been silly, but on Love Me Back To Life, it sounds great. It gives deep feelings and soul to their music.
so, to end this, I wasn't impressed with Everyday, but now that I see half of the record, I know where they wanna go and much more understand their point of view, and my hopes for Bounce are greater than ever. Definitly impossible to say can't kick some serious ass. and definitly one of the finest rock - pop/rock band ever
