If Jon had set out to be an actor then yes he has failed, but as he just does it on the side, no. He has been in some crap films, but some were actually quite good. I really liked The Leading Man.. thought that was very entertaining.

As a musician, you'll have to convince the audience that you're able to make some good music or at least give them a good show when your name is Britney. As an actor however, you have to make the audience believe you're someone else. Therefore, 'the Bruce Willis point' is valid: he can make you believe that he's someone else, in every single role he has played. Well, except for Striking Distance, maybe: then I only saw him as Bruce the Loser.

As long as he doesn't run for governor I will shut up about Jon's 'acting'.

Don't you sort of need a *set* goalpost in order to fail? We don't know what Jon aimed to achieve so how can we say whether he failed or succeeded? I don't think he takes it all that seriously - I don't think he ever expected to won an Oscar or something. He gets his living off the music and he could even start doing that for fun too if he got tired of it.

So, pointless topic really.

if he had failed as an actor then he wouldnt keep getting film jobs would he, a failed actor would surely be an actor out of work ! So technically he has not failed as he is still currently working as an actor as well as everything elses

I personally think his acting has got better as time has gone on, he is more comfortable with acting and less wooden topped

Jon should have been Obi Wan Kenobi in the next Star Wars movie.

could have even done that R2D2 song of his, could attract a few critics' attentions..

No idea, maybe he's buying the parts. But if he was *good* actor he would get big roles in major productions instead of crappy b-movies. And talking about b-movies, casting him puts well known name into poster, maybe tricking few more people to actually pay for seeing 'em.

Ok so he is not a real actor? Well appearing in movies makes him a real actor, very very bad one but nevertheless *real*. If he does it as a hobby, he should stick to home movies (Pam & Tommy Lee anyone....)
Point is, when people go to see a movie in theater they for sure expect actors to be professional & dedicated to their work, and of course, movie itself being decent. To put it in few words, his acting is acting with capital "A". He just can't "live" the roles. It's like his work turned Vampires into comedy. Ok its sh1tty movie all the way but u get the point....
Tho it's not Jon to be blamed, he cant act, end of story, blame whoever gives him them parts.
