As a musician, you'll have to convince the audience that you're able to make some good music or at least give them a good show when your name is Britney. As an actor however, you have to make the audience believe you're someone else. Therefore, 'the Bruce Willis point' is valid: he can make you believe that he's someone else, in every single role he has played. Well, except for Striking Distance, maybe: then I only saw him as Bruce the Loser.
and the award for totally missing the point goes to........

If Bruce Willis picked up a guitar and brought out a record, you'd sit there thinking that's Bruce Willis ie the dude from die hard etc... singing.

Jon starts acting you think that's the guy from Bon jovi acting.

You've got a set perception of who they are and what they do and it makes it harder for you to think of a musician as a character or an actor as a musician.

No idea, maybe he's buying the parts. But if he was *good* actor he would get big roles in major productions instead of crappy b-movies. And talking about b-movies, casting him puts well known name into poster, maybe tricking few more people to actually pay for seeing 'em.

Ok so he is not a real actor? Well appearing in movies makes him a real actor, very very bad one but nevertheless *real*. If he does it as a hobby, he should stick to home movies (Pam & Tommy Lee anyone....)
Point is, when people go to see a movie in theater they for sure expect actors to be professional & dedicated to their work, and of course, movie itself being decent. To put it in few words, his acting is acting with capital "A". He just can't "live" the roles. It's like his work turned Vampires into comedy. Ok its sh1tty movie all the way but u get the point....
Tho it's not Jon to be blamed, he cant act, end of story, blame whoever gives him them parts.
I didnt think Vampires was a comedy I think its more than a hobby to him, he takes acting lessons, just like he takes singing lesson. He sees acting as part of his career and seems to veiw it like that, well that is how he comes across in interviews when he talks about his acting.

I think Jon's acting career started well and has gone downhill. When he first started he said he was really interested in doing 'hip' movies rather than 'hit' ones. So there was 'Moonlight and Valentino' and 'The Leading Man' which were both O.K and Jon's acting got very favourable reviews. I thought he made a decent choice by working with Ed Burns on 'No Looking Back,' which I really liked. But other than that, I've been underwhelmed. Rather than continuing down the 'hip' route or the 'hit' route, he's merely moved more and more down the 'shit' route, which is a shame. However, there is hope as he is currently working with writer/director Dylan Kidd on a film. Dylan Kidd is getting a lot of plaudits on the indie scene, especially in the wake of 'Roger Dodger' which is an excellent low budget comedy set in NYC. Jon is also gonna be in one of the National Lampoon films though, which have been awful since the mid 80s. Has he failed? The jury is still out...

Since I have 2 albums of Bruce Willis and really like him as a singer.. I think you have totally missed the point!! :P

I have seen Bruce Willis perform and you honestly do not think that "that's Bruce Willis ie the dude from Die Hard..." If anything he is a great singer and when on stage, he is not an actor.

Default acting

I think Jon has failed as an actor because it seems that the parts are not coming to him as he had hoped. I remember after Moonlight and Valentino, he was doing movie after movie. The Leading Man, No Looking Back, Homegrown, Pay It Forward, Row Your Boat. I remember Jon even saying that his kids see him more as an actor than a singer (this is back in 1997 when the band were on hiatus and Jon was making all the movies) Seeing how none of the movies were any hits, I think the parts stopped coming. He has only recently done two movies. Vampies which went no one and now this new one, The Trouble With Frank which I am sure will go straight to video. I give him credit for trying.

I liked row your boat, and pay it forward is good. He needs more music & less acting.
