All I could find was rumors of people thinking he had vocal cord surgery. I found nothing saying he actually did have the surgery.

To get back to the topic of Jon himself. I seriously doubt he has ever had vocal cord surgery because Jon seems to have never rested his voice ever which he would have needed to do after surgery.
