That's sadly true and the better thing to do this year would have been- Release the boxset instead of Forever and say: The band had a wonderful career but now it's time to say goodbye. But what did we get instead: A disappointing album with zero promotion asides from two music videos, where in the second one the band isn't even a part of it.

At the beginning of the Forever campaign I felt like it was more promotion than we'd got for a very long time. But after the release everything just feel off a cliff. I can't work out of that was because the album sales were not what they had wanted/expected, Jon's mother's passing or Jon's voice problem. In reality it's probably a mixture of all 3.

Total let down for me as well, a half decent album is
the only highlight.. The documentary was all about Jon with the others getting a few mins here and there.... Thought it was warts n all , cant let Jon be seen to be the bad i guess

Why was there no hall of fame footage with the original 5 in rehearsals and an interview with Alec, must be loads of footage about they could of used.

Backstage is awful, its not the easiest to navigate , its a mess....promises of a box set, never happened ( still could though ) .

Jon saying his voice is back, its not... stop lying to us Mr !

Went to see the "Conversation with Jon and Stephen Colbert" last night... Overall it was a fun night. Dinner, drinks, and a very intimate setting. I had 3rd row so I got to see Jon up close... He actually looks better in person but older. Yes, Jon got old. It's difficult to see because I watch these YouTube vids from what seems like yesterday and it's difficult to connect the young to the old. It's like 2 different people.

The conversation was pretty much the same old stories we've heard a million times but hearing them in person gave them a new light because you are seeing the reactions from both sides. Stephan can actually be funny when he's not talking about politics which there was none of. He talked about the Power Station times when Jagger grabbed him and named his fake band with Jon "The Frogs". Jon said he keeps telling the story because he wants that picture to surface one day so he just keeps putting it out there. The only thing that was new was Jon talking about the lady who wanted to jump off the bridge. He just said that he had a conversation with her and every one of us would have done the same...

The most DISAPPOINTING part was the Q/A. I think fans know what Jon wants to talk about so they go there on purpose... I was yelling out loud "Box Set? and Tour?" thinking someone would catch on but instead, we heard out The Soul Kitchen and his Wife.

Overall it was nothing special or informative but still a nice night out. In my mind, I just pretended that this was Jon's version of Springsteen on Broadway. There were also a lot of funny moments which made it much more enjoyable.

Not for me. It was far from spectacular, but I am way too cynical to expect anything significant from this band and its organization. So whatever is not totally shit I will treat as a bonus.

Album was meh, only a couple of songs I qualify as good. But I am not sure that it is even possible to produce enjoyable sounding music with a voice as broken as Jon's was in the making of this.

The tour not materializing I consider a plus. With the vocal problems that Jon has, I've been saying he should've retired from touring 8-9 years ago. So better late than never.

Documentary was not perfect, but definitely enjoyable. It was Jon-focused, which I totally expected, so at least I appreciate that it attempted to be honest from his standpoint.

Promotion-wise, you cannot do much without being able to play live. But there has been some interviews and pocast appearances that I enjoyed for what it was. Nothing special, though.

Default Has This Year (40 years) Been A Letdown?

I'm most let down by the fact we're apparently not getting the box set now. That was all I was interested in this year.

I skipped Forever based on what little I'd heard of it and general lack of interest in new albums since What About Now.

As for a tour, I didn't care to pay £100's for a lacklustre show with Jon's unlistenable vocals that he's had since 2012. I get that he's had surgery and I appreciate that, but he's not going to get back to say 90's-era standard or even early 2000's-era for that matter.

I, personally, haven’t seen Bon Jovi live since 2006. Not that either of the 2 shows I went to were bad or anything. I just didn’t have the drive to see them again whenever they toured since. Maybe that’s due to the standard of albums they released after that, coupled with seeing several other different bands who were much more exciting to see. I seem to remember tickets for their Cardiff 2013 show selling for just £30’odd and I still passed on it.

I could not care less whoever Jon is voting for or endorsing.

I did enjoy the documentary though. It was a great way to revisit the past (again) after fading away from the band for several years, though I doubt I'll watch it all again. It was fun, funny and occasionally moving. Kind of reminded me why I wanted to get into this band almost a quarter of a century ago, besides the music.

The only thing I have any remote interest in is the Blu Ray coupled with next Japanese Greatest Hits compilation. The fact that that’s where my fandom lies now is quite sad.

So yeah, quite a let-down, but nothing unexpected.

Im wondering if the label are hesitant to release a box set after the last few albums havent sold.
It might have to be via the website and download only.

Id be really interested to know how many copies the re-released debut, SWW and the awful GH2 have/will sell. Theres nothing for the die hard at all to make them part with their money,

Where are the tracks that didnt make the albums - we all want those instead of live songs we already have.

i get that the band cant tour but after the initial first week sales Forever bombed so I think JBJ just decided to stop trying to flog a dead horse. I did notice that the documentary caused a lot of the earlier albums to start selling again so thats good but the new stuff just isnt selling. im not sure that bringing Richie back could change that.

Its been 40 years and the band have had a great run (the last decade not as good) but i just think its time for them to stop now.

I highly suggest checking out the album in full. If you're basing it on lack of interest from the general public, think of all the songs we glorify they never will care about.

I think/hope the label is realistic to know this is a very niche market and the album bombing as much as they do (even worse without the ability for the band to properly promote it). Like there's no way it was a surprise no one cared about the album.

It's looking like it's pushed to 2025 but I'd love to be wrong and get an announcement before the end of the year.

I wasn’t basing it on whatever the general public things (I’ve no idea of, nor would I care, what the public consensus is anyway), I was basing my opinion I’ve heard of the album myself. I’ve heard “Legendary” and “Living Proof” and listened to clips of the other tracks on iTunes and that was it. What I heard was fine, but nothing really pulled me in.

Similar thing happened with 2020, I did listen to that album in full on YouTube once, and that was it.

If people like the new albums, that’s great. But personally, it’s just not for me.
