I don't think HAND was a great album by any means but it definately had hit potential. I think if better choices had been made when it comes to the album track selection and the songs released for singles then it could have had two or three hits of it at least. I also think that promotion is a big thing too. It's ok saying spread the smirk, but I certainly didn't walk around seeing it everywhere. The smirk was a clever marketing invention, but it wasn't used to it's true potential.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Jon said he saw the smirk everywhere. Surrrrre. Probably at the video shoot. The album so had tons of potential. I for one loved it and still love it, and it would have resonated more with the public than Bounce, methinks.

HAND was waaaay better than Crush and Bounce. They really dissapointed me. I haven't listened to both for years now...
Anyway I also agree, HAND had his potential.... HAND itself is better than IML and Everyday, I wanna be loved has something, Novocaine I really dig, and is my fav +2000 song...
But still it's still too cheesy overall...

The thing I enjoy about HAND is that it's essentially the same topic of Everyday and it's a musical clone of IML but....it works. I way prefer it over IML because of the lyrics. It's not just rhyming words like it's my life was, it actually has a bit more of a message, if that makes sense.

I still think the missed the boat by not releasing "I Am" as a single. I figure that had, by far, the most breakout potential on the album. It should've been released as the follow-up to WSYGH instead of WTWYA.

I agree the smirk was under used. If it were me i Would have made a short commercial with just the smirk and coming soon and date, no music also loads of billboards of the smirk. After a few weeks when people were intrigued hit them with another one with HAND playing with bonjovi.com at the bottom of the screen. Or something like that, me drunk dont care anymore

I quite liked HAND, better than Bounce.

Hehe, I said something like that just after the album was released:

Tis a shame it (the smirk) wasn't quite used to its full potential. Can you imagine if, before you'd known what it was, you'd gone out on the town, and there'd been loads of them stuck around everywhere? That would have been awesome marketing

That's exactly why the record company didn't promote them properly. They would rather promote younger artists with catchy songs as they have more hit potential these days.

Definitely, I Am is my favorite song off HAND. Too bad they only played it once on tour too, even if I did get to witness it.
