Some songs could have been better like the title track (its previous demo version is actually much better than the album version) and WTWYA single mix is better than the album version (with the keyboards shining over the guitar). Jon's voice (IMO opinion) are just too rough, I prefer the vocal style used on Crush and TD.
I think the WTWYA single collected dust in my CD collection since early 2006...gotta take it out and listen to it again...can't remember hearing any significant difference back then (but those were my very early fan days and I wasn't listening to the songs so carefully as I do nowadays).

There's very little difference. Bit of backing keyboard behind the guitar chords and an extra drum beat added to Tico's fill near the end for some reason.

Yes, but those kind of minor differences can make a song better or worst, the keyboard is shining, the guitar is not very loud, the backing vocals are clearer and it brings a different vibe to the song, of course, all this said is just my opinion.

My HAND top 5 is:

1. Welcome To Wherever You Are
2. Bells Of Freedom
3. I Am
4. Last Man Standing
5. Who Says You Can't Go Home (Rock Version)

BUT if we count all the B-sides, bonus tracks and outtakes from HAND, this top 5 dramatically changes to:

1. Nothing
2. These Open Arms
3. Welcome To Wherever You Are (Jeremy Wheatly Mix)
4. Bells Of Freedom
5. I Am / Dirty Little Secret

It's sad to see how great the album would had been...

I think a good album could have been this:

1. Have A Nice Day [1st single]
2. Dirty Little Secret [2nd single]
3. Who Says You Can't Go Home [3rd single USA]
4. Nothing [3rd single - worldwide]
5. Last Man Standing
6. I Want To Be Loved
7. Novocaine
8. I Am
9. These Open Arms
10. Bells Of Freedom
11. Unbreakable
12. Story Of My Life
13. Complicated
14. Welcome To Wherever You Are

The only songs i'd omit from HAND are Complicated and Wildflower. I love Novocaine. 1 of my favorites off the album actually. I'd definitely add Dirty Little Secret into the mix, likely in the place of Wildflower. Personally, i think Unbreakable is actually pretty unremarkable. It would be an improvement over Complicated though...

I wouldn't even bat an eye if it was never released.

It honestly boggles my mind that Novocaine and Last Cigarette aren't universally loved on here, if for nothing than lyrical content alone. Certainly some of the best of the Post-00 period IMO.

I guess I really don't know, but I was under the impression that Novocaine was pretty well respected around here. Can't say about Last Cigarette.

Exactly!!! That would be my HAND album!!! 100% agreed with you.

Sadly... this was not the album
