Actually Jon and critics themselves have been surprised that they've seen past his being a rock star turned actor. Critics have admitted they went in with low expectations based on his being a rock star and were impressed. Being a rock star is more of a hindrance than a help in Hollywood.

great actors like tom hanks, robert de niro, brad pitt (yes he his good!) and so on will always be the big names in hollywood so why even try?

The same reason he tried when acts like Van Halen and Tears for Fears and Cyndi Lauper were popular and he wanted to be a rock star. Jon's not one to give up so easily. Aren't you glad--otherwise there would be no Bon Jovi.

I mean low budgets movies like vampire los muertos (or what it's called) aren't something to be proud over!
I think that jon should spend the rest of his career to repair the gap he has greated between his former rock image and his new mainstream-vh1 image!

In case you're unaware, when Bon Jovi was big on MTV, they were in the mainstream then too. There only difference is that MTV is geared toward youth and that Bon Jovi's audience has grown up. So we watch VH-1 and VH-1 tailors to us moreso than 14 year olds. I think his disappointment in the way the movies he's done have turned out (the finished product is never as good as the script) is one reason he's writing his own.

but he should of course do what he likes, and I will probably watch every one of his movies, just because he is jon bon jovi...

Yes, he should. The outside projects keep the band alive.
