Actually Jon and critics themselves have been surprised that they've seen past his being a rock star turned actor. Critics have admitted they went in with low expectations based on his being a rock star and were impressed. Being a rock star is more of a hindrance than a help in Hollywood.

great actors like tom hanks, robert de niro, brad pitt (yes he his good!) and so on will always be the big names in hollywood so why even try?
The same reason he tried when acts like Van Halen and Tears for Fears and Cyndi Lauper were popular and he wanted to be a rock star. Jon's not one to give up so easily. Aren't you glad--otherwise there would be no Bon Jovi.

I mean low budgets movies like vampire los muertos (or what it's called) aren't something to be proud over!
I think that jon should spend the rest of his career to repair the gap he has greated between his former rock image and his new mainstream-vh1 image!
In case you're unaware, when Bon Jovi was big on MTV, they were in the mainstream then too. There only difference is that MTV is geared toward youth and that Bon Jovi's audience has grown up. So we watch VH-1 and VH-1 tailors to us moreso than 14 year olds. I think his disappointment in the way the movies he's done have turned out (the finished product is never as good as the script) is one reason he's writing his own.

but he should of course do what he likes, and I will probably watch every one of his movies, just because he is jon bon jovi...
Yes, he should. The outside projects keep the band alive.

Then you're not reading very many reviews. I have diligently searched for reviews from around the world and the overwhelming majority are positive. I suggest a visit to my website is in order. Unless, of course, you don't WANT to see that Jon really has gotten great reviews.

YOU might think his performances are crap, but people who get paid to watch movies do not.

Becky, it's because Jon is the devil. Don't you get that by now? Anything good is a band effort (but Jon steals all the glory and doesn't give the rest of the band enough credit, attention, time on camera, time to talk...) and anything that fans don't like is inherently Jon's fault.

C'mon, Becky... you know this already.
Jon forced Richie to refrain from guitar solos. He had him chained to the chair in the control room. It's Jon's fault there's not enough shredding guitar solos, no one else's.
Jon chooses all the songs on the album. That's why they suck.
Jon chooses all the wrong songs on the album. That's why the demos are much better and should have been on the album instead.
Jon chooses all the cities the band will play in - that's why the tour sucks
Jon has dictatorship on the set list - that's why the set lists suck. His own band members are bound/gagged and not allowed to express any opinions in their own careers...
Jon is the devil. As soon as you accept this basic tenet, you'll understand much, much more... [/quote]

You're right, Derek. I just momentarily forgot. I've known for years that Jon is the one behind all the evil plots in the universe and it would be his fault if the moon fell out of the sky. The facts that Richie co writes songs and some of the longest solos Richie's done have been on songs Jon wrote alone are just there to throw people off, because, in reality, Jon keeps all the band members in boxes and only lets them out when he feels like it. Jon is also at the head of a plot to not allow the record company to produce copies of the other guys solo albums which is why they don't sell well. He won't let VH-1 play their videos and he keeps their songs off radio station playlists too. He's such a control freak!!

Becky

BTW... a lot of the reviews on my website are from Canada, the UK, and Australia--anywhere reviews are available in English.

I actually agree with this. I do think Jon was wooden in Ally. He looked like he didn't know what to do with Victor.

Row you Boat on the other hand included very good Jon's acting. So did No Looking Back. The Leading Man got some good moments, but in other scenes he was again wooden.

I think he has talent. He only needs to work on developing it.

After saying all that, I'd like to point out that I really want him to put more time into Bon Jovi.
