Default Have You Seen This??????????? JOVI SCREWUP????????

hey guys, it's your old buddy brijovi back from a year long vacation. (yay......) what got me back? well i was watching the "Crush tour" dvd as im sure most of you do or have and noticed something very strange. this may just be the musicians who catch it, but try this: ON your dvd, go to the song "Born to be my baby" fastforward towards the end, in there you'll notice a series of crashes (cymbals) coming of tico. what i just noticed today is, they cut to a scene with him playing the ride (cymbal) yet there's a distinctive double crash. what the hell? something here doesnt make sense. am i the only one who notices this? (musicians may pick up on this before someone who doesnt play) i cant give you an exact location but it's around the time jon stops singing, and either right at the end or right after his "oh oh oh oh" things. see if you notice this, if you do, tell me what the hell's going on!

Brijovi, dazed and confused........

It may be an editing mistake true...it could also be that a few of the cymbal crashes are triggered via Dave's keyboards....there may be too many on certain songs for Tico to manually do....not a stupid idea, after all - they use overdubs of many guitar riffs as Richie can play but one guitar, and lots of the songs have many guitar parts.

there's a massive editing problem on the video on LOAP. at the end when it's supposed to be full band singing the final chorus, jon's looped over the top doing his 'woah ohh we're half way there,' The basically dubbed the video with the OWN CD audio, forgetting that they do two choruses at the end.

Talk-box on LOAP is over-dubbed as well - it sounds a lot better but it was definitely added afterwards.

There's also a chord mistake just after the solo on Two Story Town - Jon fluffs up and its fairly audible!

Oh well, even the best make mistakes sometimes!

i'd say the concert get's better after prayer and bad name. it's far too overdubbed and over produced at the beginning. the thing is, mistakes don't bother me. i'd rather they left in a bit of string noise or a missed bend because it makes it real. i don't buy a live DVD to hear a studio recording.

Talkbox overdubbed? In the studio? I can't see this (or hear). I've heard many recordings that are 100% NOT overdubbed (like you might have too) and I'm a guitar player myself. I can't say it is overdubbed... it's live I think!

Yes there is an editing problem on the Dvd. But I don't think Dave is doing cymbals on the keyboard. Stupid it would be! Tico is a good enough drummer himself. And on the Crush Tour weren't any guitar overdubs in the show (but they had the backing vocals for It's my Life etc.). I think that started with Bounce - they used overdubs on Undivided, Hook me up etc.

talkbox wasn't overdubbed but was certainly raised up. in the normal mix it is never that loud and clear.

Talk-box WAS definitely overdubbed because if yoou've seen any other live performances (such as Live from London), Richie adds a few little "fills" during the intro and he does the mouth movement on the Crush DVD to play one of these fills........................and there's no change in the sound produced! I am a guitarist myself and I also own a talk-box so I know how the sounds are produced relative to mouth movement (its not rocket science ) and I can honestly say I don't think the DVD represents a live talk-box performance - sorry. The mouth movements don't match the sound produced in every place Richie's shown using it!
