Hearts Breaking Even and If That's What It Takes

Uggh, two of my least favorite Bon Jovi tracks of all.

Love them. Absolutely brilliant, it's a pity These Days is so consistantly good because they get overshadowed.
Live they haven't been played, not sure they would work...but i wouldn't mind being there if Jon went crazy and decided to try!

Not picking on you here or anything but looking at this post and if my memory serves me well I think this is correct:

3 of your worst BJ songs are Hearts Breaking Even, If That's What It Takes and (It's Hard) Letting You Go?

You don't like 3 out of 13 songs on These Days?

I think anyone who dislikes either of these songs would love them if anything like them were released on the next album. That said, Hearts Breaking Even would be a class song if ONLY it weren't an absolute ripoff A-smith's crazy (moreso than Cryin'). That kinda tarnishes the song for me.

If That's What It Takes has an undercooked feel to it, the opening is kinda useless, but what's there is very good.

It's interesting in that I think the other 10 songs on These Days are all absolutely brilliant. In fact, I'll call them perfect.

I just thought it was strange TBH as a lot of people would say that album does not have a bad song on it.

I love those songs and would absolutely wet myself if I experienced them live but I think 95% of the crowd would feel differently. And I'd rather hear Hey God or Something to Believe In from the album anyway.

I do agree with you that if there are any flaws on the album, it's these two songs. I like them, but I can't deny Hearts is a rip-off, and If That's What It Takes could have used another run. Could have been epic.
